Ashtanga yoga: Natural timing? |
- Natural timing?
- Good shala at San Francisco/ any interesting courses/retreats?
- How to deal with knee pain I think is being caused from my hip?
Posted: 03 Jun 2021 11:32 PM PDT Hi all, I have a tendency to swing between Chinese and Indian teachings when it comes to my spiritual practices because I have an affinity with both (usually dependent on the weather 😅). As the years go by I'm seeing more and more similarities in practices and their motivations and benefits, so lately I've been trying to apply a qigong-style approach to the series and it's working wonders. Since my motive is to become so in-tune with my body that I can move completely according to the state of the body and breath, I've considered timing my breathing with my heartbeat instead of arbitrarily counting "one, two, three, four, five..." I tried it with pranayama once and it was difficult but interesting. Has anyone tried anything like this with asana/vinyasa? [link] [comments] |
Good shala at San Francisco/ any interesting courses/retreats? Posted: 03 Jun 2021 09:35 AM PDT Hello fellow ashtangis, I will be traveling in August at California and I was wandering: 1. Is there any recommended shalas at San Francisco I can attend while traveling. 2. Any courses/workshops/ retreats at this time and place. (All California is releavent). Thank you very much [link] [comments] |
How to deal with knee pain I think is being caused from my hip? Posted: 03 Jun 2021 12:05 AM PDT My upper left leg (mainly knee) and now hip has started hurting. The knee, if I do any padmasanaesque movements, just hurts. Ive started noticing my hip is aching and top of my leg too. Sometimes, very rarely, the side of my foot and shin goes numb. I could stab it with a knife and feel nothing. I have been exercising a lot more, before I was only doing Ashtanga about 4 times a week, now I am walking 5,000-10,000 steps a day daily, swimming and suchforth since lockdown eased. I have tried to avoid padmasana style exercise for a long time. Any advice on what it could be and how to fix? I feel I may need a physio but its expensive. [link] [comments] |
