I made a video on my forward head posture mobility/corrective routine I've been giving clients over the years and they've had a lot of success with it. Just trying to help!

My middle split progress over the last 1,5 years!

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 09:09 PM PDT

    Hi guys!

I am so happy that I learned the middle split. There is some more cm to have it all the way flat to the ground, but I am very close to get it. I took it slow and practiced it like 5 times a month, and got results anyway. Found some old pictures of my practices and I thought it would be cool to put them together and share how I learned it. I am not a coach to teach others, but I believe sharing from own experience counts, especially where there is some result happening.
If you want to steal some ideas from me and try it yourself feel free to check my blog page where I placed my middle split story. If you scroll all the way down you will see some funny pictures of me staying in the middle split.

❣️ And if you want to give me some tips it will give me an enormous pleasure!

How to fix damage done by overstretching?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2021 05:54 AM PDT

So I began seriously training to get my front splits over a year ago. Originally I was stretching for about an hour almost every day. A few months ago I managed to get my front split down on my right side. However, shortly after every time I would stretch I would feel a little tighter and that leg ended up being my WORSE leg. At this point I figured maybe I was overstretching and I needed to give my muscles more rest days so I started stretching only 2-3 times a week. I didn't make any progress on my right side but I managed to get my split down on my left side.

Recently I have been stretching barely 1-2 times a week and yet it feels like my legs are as stiff as ever and I am barely making any progress. I still can't consistently get my left side down without soreness and my right side is literally less flexible then when I started. Obviously this is super upsetting for me considering I have put SO much effort in this to end up making negative progress.

The only thing I can think is that I have injured my muscles from over stretching. MY stretching routine is an hour long and I do conditioning and cardio exercises at the start so I don't think not being warm enough is the reason. I am thinking I will take 1-2 weeks off stretching all together as a way to fix this but it feels really frustrating and counter intuitive because my urge is to train more. Does anyone have any advice/experience with this because I'm honestly feeling quite rubbish about myself the amount of effort I have put into this and the fact that I at some points had both my splits yet seem to have lost them. Any pointers or reassurance would be greatly appreciated.

    My doctor was concerned

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 08:13 AM PDT

At twelve years old, my doctor thought that I had something while I was showing off (I can't remember the name of the condition or whatever it was). She asked if I had ever dislocated anything and checked for heart murmurs. She said it was possible that I had it but my heart was fine and left it at that.

Do you guys know what it might be?

    How to build a routine?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 10:12 AM PDT

So as the title says, I'm a bit overwhelmed in terms of trying to build up a routine for seeing progress in my stretching. I'm not sure where to start. I have a basic one I do, but I feel like I want to do more! I also don't know how to know if my stretching is benefitting my progress or long enough, if that makes sense? There's just so many ways to start!

I'm also a bit frustrated because my progress has gone back since I haven't been able to stretch in a while and when I resume it seems like I get to the point I was at before but not further.

Any advice would be appreciated! For reference I'm trying to get my side splits (had the left pretty much), middle splits, and increase back flexibility. I also just wanna feel better, ya know?

    Thanks!

How has improving your flexibility and mobility impacted how you understand your health and wellbeing?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 01:14 PM PDT

Hey there! I can't see anything in the rules that indicate relevant and unfunded research studies are not allowed, so apologies if this isn't permitted - just delete. I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Bath and I am studying the health outcomes and experiences of individuals who follow different health models. As individuals who are interested in improving your flexibility, I think you have valuable perspectives to share, and I'd love to hear about your experience :) I personally have found that flexibility is important to my own definition of health, as flexibility and mobility go hand in hand.

If you're interested in participating in my research, feel free to check out the survey using this link: https://bathreg.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/healthy-behaviours-and-interactions-with-body-focused-media

Questions basically cover health beliefs, health behaviours, and interactions with body-focused media. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to have a chat!

Thanks a ton for checking it out! :)
