Flexibility: So 2 years ago I posted here cuz I was able to touch my heels in an elbow bridge. Slow progress but I'm now able to touch my heels in an actual bridge! 🤩 Feedback from last time helped a lot, please let me know if there's anything I should be working on/correct.

    90/90 stretch caused pinched nerve

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 03:18 AM PDT

Yesterday I was doing the 90/90 stretch and as I was contracting and relaxing at my end range I started getting a nervy pain in my lower back (at the very bottom) so I immediately stopped.

I didn't notice any weird sensations afterwards so I thought it was fine. Later on in the day I was walking on the treadmill and I got a sudden nervy pain right through the bottom of my foot - today it's been coming back and forth throughout the day. As I was sleeping last night I started to get a point on my outer calf which I couldn't put pressure on without getting a nervy pain in that region.

I'm going to the doctors to ask about it next week but anyone got any opinions? I'm 21 year old male just in case that matters.

    Too stiff to stretch

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 03:00 AM PDT

I tried to find answer to this from internet, but my problem is so detailed that it was hard. I have also seen a doctor and they told me that I need to stretch. All things in this post are seen by a doctor or a physiotheraphist. Shortly they said that my muscles are too tight and too weak... So I'm only 17 years old and I feel like a raw spaghetti. I have no strenght at all which also causes joint problems and I'm so stiff that I'm afraid, I might break something if I go to gym. I also have a very bad posture, migraines because my neck is so tight and my knees hurt (because of my calfs and thighs)...

I have tried to stretch mostly my shoulders, back, neck and calfs. Since they are the worst part. But the real problem is, they are so stiff that I don't even feel the stretch or it hurts. In my calfs, neck and back I don't feel anything, not even pain. (depends on what way I stretch them. I try to correct my posture so I stretch my neck from the front, and this back problem is about bending it inwards. I feel it if I bend over the front).

Every time I talk about posture, I hear that you should pull shoulders back and down. I get them back, but not down. It hurts something near my collarbones very bad.

I have also tried to warm those muscles with exercise and when I noticed it was pointless, I warmed them with warm water which helped a little...

I hope someone has an advice for me... This really makes my life hard, because I can't exercise. And I don't get anything from stretching because I don't feel it.

How much should it "burn" when stretching

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 02:26 PM PDT

Hi everyone, been trying to stretch more frequently and usually when I stretch I aim to go little by little as my stretch reflex fades away. On the tighter parts of my body(legs) I can feel it pull but it eventually fades away.

Thing is when streching I feel this kind of burning sensation behind my knee towards the outer part. unlike the rest of my body when stretching it doesnt fade and pretty much seems like it just "heats up more" as I stretch. Feels like im pullilng on a thin string thats gonna pop at any moment and it kind of worries me. So like should I just stay there longer and itll eventually go away? should I avoid doing it? am I doing something wrong?

The stretch I was doing earlier was a front bend in which I had my back against the floor and my legs up against the wall. But it applies to anytime I try to stretch that area for more than 10 seconds

Can you see much progress if overweight?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:57 PM PDT

A bit embarrassing, but I have tried mobility/flexibility routines in the past only to feel quite discouraged at just how awkward and even painful some of the movements can feel as an overweight person.

I am actively working to lose weight, but I'm so stiff so I feel that working on flexibility at the same time would be worthwhile. Is this right, or should I focus on the weight first?

    Question about knees

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:56 PM PDT

Not sure if this applies to this group but I have a question about a weird thing that happens to my knee when sitting cross-legged. It happens if I'm sitting cross-legged with my right foot tucked under my left tigh and I go to move my right leg slightly. I won't say my right knee dislocates but something in there shifts out of place and I suddenly freeze. There's a slight pain for an instant but it's fine till I straighten my leg and I can feel my knee shift back to normal. There's a sound as if a bone is rubbing against bone but I doubt this cause there's not much pain associated with it. Its been a while but I seem to remember feeling something on the other side of my knee move when it shifts back into place. Anyone have a clue what's going on?
