Flexibility: If you don't get your splits in a month, please don't get discouraged by it. This is my progress after stretching nearly every night for the past month and although I'm quite dissapointed by it, I'll keep trying (gotta fulfill that new year's commitment, haha).

Does anyone know which muscle group I need to stretch I need to do in order to make these even? I cannot rotate my right hip for some reason something is stopping the leg from turning...

I want to become more flexible! I can only get down just pats my knees... long way off touching my toes. I’ve never really been flexible or able to get further then that. Is there any hope for me or am I screwed??

Tension through my leg when I dorsiflex my foot

    Posted: 02 May 2021 06:31 PM PDT

I've been stretching a lot more recently and I've noticed when I'm stretching my hamstrings, if I dorsiflex my foot I feel heaps of tension mainly through my feet and calves. I was wondering why this is and if I can stretching whatever it is in order to improve my range with a straight leg. Also when stretching the hamstrings one at a time I have good range but when I stretching them together I feel it in my lower back rather then the hamstring.

    Thanks!!

    Assistance Constructing Routine

    Posted: 02 May 2021 05:14 AM PDT

    Hello!

I have three specific goals, and I'd like to construct a routine to achieve them. Ive read many routines before to address these all individually, but I'm overwhelmed by the amount of variations in exercise, frequency and length that get recommended. So I'm looking for a single list of things to do that will help me address these areas. I'm listing them in order of priority for me:

Goal 1: improve overhead mobility so that I can start practicing handstands. Right now my ability to put my arms over head with no back arch is limited at around 150 degrees. Trying to raise them higher doesn't "feel" like stretching, it feels more like my deltoids and/or traps get in the way somehow. I do feel a slight stretch in my lats, but that sensation is way less intense than the blocking feeling in my shoulder/neck.

Goal 2: improve hamstring flexibility and/or compression to Lsit and pistol squat more comfortable. While I can do both of these exercises, they are far from the point of being comfortable flexibility wise.

Goal 3: Not as applied as the other two, I'd like to work on my side split as well.

I currently do the /r/bodyweightfitness recommended routine, and am at a relatively intermediate level. I'm also wondering if I should stretch and do mobility work on the same day, as I work out or on the off day (I currently work out every second day).

Thanks for your help! Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide that will make this easier.
