This year I gained a lot of progress with my back flexibility but sometimes after stretches like this for example it tends to be sore for a day or two.. anyone has tips for me? How often should I stretch my back or what strengthening exercises I can do so it will be stronger? Thank you!

Using the Mind to Immediately Increase Range of Motion

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 11:59 AM PDT

Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist out of Stanford, and one of his more recent podcast episodes discusses learning skills faster. At around 1 hour 22 minutes into this episode, he discusses a way to increase range of motion by 10-15% immediately. Certainly a useful tip towards increasing flexibility, as that increased range of motion can be used to get into positions easier for more rapid improvement.

TLDW; Expand your visual field by keeping your head stationary and moving your eyes to the far left, then far right, then up, then down. Repeat a few times. This stimulates the cerebellum and alleviates some of the inhibitory pathways that can cause a muscle to stop stretching at a certain point. Basically, our range of vision and range of motion are tied together in our brain, so if our range of vision increases, so too does our range of motion.

Does anyone have advice for keeping the rear leg on the floor. I come very close in the left split but the right is more difficult.
