For the first time ever, my heels touched the floor in downward facing dog

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 04:49 PM PST

That's it. I've been practicing yoga for over five years and since the end of last year I've been doing it almost every day and for the very first time, my heels touched the ground when doing downward facing dog. I know it's not much and there are other more challenging asanas that I can manage quite easily, but my calves, lower back and hamstrings are super tight and this feels like such a milestone to me! I know you don't haaaave to touch your heels to the ground, but it felt nice. I had just finished a nice vinyasa practice and decided to hop back into down dog for a little while and BOOM, my heels and the floor ❤️ I just felt so happy I wanted to share!

    (Hot Yoga)(weight loss) throbbing headache

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:32 PM PST

    Hi All,

I have been trying to lose weight. I gained 20 pounds during covid-19. 5 years ago, I had previously lost ~30 pounds by doing bikram yoga and ayurvedic medicines.

I am trying the same again but this time I have terrible throbbing headache every single time after a hot Yoga class.

    Any suggestions?

    Pigeon Pose Difficulty.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:57 PM PST

I seem to have some issues "letting go" in Pigeon pose. I don't have this issue with any other pose that I have tryed (I'm still relatively new to yoga) but pigeon seems to be so sticky to me. It doesn't matter what leg is in front of me I can't seem to sit and just breathe into it. If that makes any sense. It's almost like I'm to stiff in my hips to even relax beyond the discomfort. It's definitely not a bad pain, just intense.

I'm wondering if maybe I am alone in this difficulty, people around me seems to be having no issue with it in the slightest. But if someone is like me out there is/was there anything that helped you in particular?

Is it OK to do hip stretches (to improve lotus) everyday?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 04:45 PM PST

Or is it too much and should rather be done every 2 days and with days off?

    Flat Feet

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:23 PM PST

Sooo, yea, I have flat ass feet and it makes balancing really difficult. Any pose that is one-legged is extremely challenging for me. What can I do about this? Is there anything I can do to make those poses easier?

Trying to start Yoga routine, extreme knee pain when crossing legs!

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:39 PM PST

I am a somewhat physically fit 27 year old male. Lifted weights all my life but just recently got in to yoga at recommendation of physical therapist (due to back and joint pain). I've tried a bunch of routines but a ton of them have you sitting cross legged for long time. Every time I cross my legs whichever knee is on top starts to hurt so bad I have to get out of the pose. I also feel like I can't fully extend my back up to sit in proper posture. How can I fix this?

Back spasms/twinges when trying to relax back after yoga

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:21 PM PST

Hi! I'm new to this sub and I've been doing yoga for about a week and I'm just using YouTube videos at the moment and was wondering if this problem has affected others and what can be done to stop it from happening? It normally happens at the very end of my routine when I do the corpse pose, the pains aren't too sharp but they last for a few minutes and then go away. Am I doing the poses wrong? I really love yoga so far and want to keep it up if I can! Thanks for any advice!

Rocky Heron Yoga? Good for someone just getting out of the beginner phase?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:38 PM PST

I'm not really a beginner...more intermediate. Or in between the two. What are your thoughts about Rocky Heron Yoga? I'm a very strong woman looking to increase my flexibility while maintaining my strength. Is this the instructor for me? I have issues with flexibility and it is what I'd like to work on the most in 2021. I've seen some improvement but very minimal. What are your thoughts on his Yoga Program?

What exercises should I do in order to be able to sit crosslegged/half lotus in meditation?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:04 PM PST

What muscles, joints and tendons are involved? I know I have to open my hips joints but what else does have to be done?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 10:49 AM PST

I got a problem on my wrist that I can't bend it not even to do a push up. Is yoga still possible for me? I'd love to start doing yoga but I'm unsure if I'm debilitated for such

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 12:57 PM PST

Hello everyone! I wanted to start up with yoga again (have always been a newb) but my condo has very plush carpet and I felt it straining my wrist.

Anyone got tips or tricks for yoga on carpet? I do plan to eventually remove the carpet however will need to save up for that.

Can I stretch like this everyday to achieve lotus? Beginner

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:26 AM PST

Hey guys so I'm very Inflexible and I can't even stand 5min sitting crosslegged. I saw this video that tells me to do just 3 exercises to be able to eventually in a year be able to do lotus. Are these exercises legit? Also he mentions he does it every 48h, can I do it everyday instead?

    Searching for a suffocation-free sweatshirt

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 09:40 AM PST

Hi, yoga community! This post seems a bit silly, but it is all about the little things these days.

I've been practicing daily at home since the beginning of the pandemic, and often like to start off my early morning session in a comfy sweatshirt. Whenever the downward dogs start, the collar completely drops down over my face affecting my breathing, and/or the bottom part of the garment rides up and is an annoyance. My internet searches have yielded no viable results.

Any suggestions out there for a perfect yoga sweatshirt? I'm generally interested in women's clothing but welcome all suggestions. Thanks in advance for making my mornings a little bit better.

    Motivation

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 09:36 AM PST

Hey all, I've sort of fallen off the wagon for the past week or so. I can't bring myself to actually do yoga. My mind wants to, but I can't seem to bring my body into doing it. I know a lot of it stems from depression kicking me around, but I was wondering what anyone else does to overcome this feeling? Any help is greatly appreciated. Namaste, yoga fam 🙏
