Anyone any ideas, tips, solutions for tight muscles that obstruct rom and pull on joints.

    First off, I don't have a medical condition ...

But my muscles and some more than others seem to tighten up a lot and thereby pull on my joints and also obstruct my range of motion. I have done stretching, foam rolling, and manual release for many many years and it is like mopping with the tap open. I can spend hours on my body daily and feel good, but when I go to sleep and wake up all rom is gone again. Even stretching and then training for strength in the newly gotten rom doesn't seem to keep it. Meditation/ relaxation seem to help a little. Basically just looking for any tips to find either that big component I am still missing or maybe little stuff to try that can help a couple of percent.

Confusion regarding hamstring stretch - bent knees or not?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2021 07:34 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

I've been at it with stretching my hamstrings for a good year.. now, I have a little confusion regarding the classic hamstring stretch of bending forward, keeping your back straight and not bending your knees..

If I bend myself forward and allow myself a slight bend in my knees, I can truly feel my hamstring being stretched, and it feels proper. However, if I attempt to keep my legs 100% straight throughout, the stretch feels more general across the entire back of my leg as well as the calves.. so as opposed to being isolated to the hamstring muscle, it feels like I am stretching tendons or something all the way up and down the back of my leg and calves.. it feels kind of off somehow.

So my final question is; what's the optimal way of going about it? It doesn't feel like a classic muscle stretch when I keep my legs 100% straight, and it seems way more difficult and somehow unproductive. It's hard for me to explain. I just need to know which way is the most optimal for attaining hamstring flexibility, as that is my primary goal - but if I am missing something more fundamental by going with the "isolated hamstring stretch", then I would obviously do it with my legs 100% straight. I hope this makes sense to people and I hope someone out there can relate and explain what's going on here. Thank you in advance.
