How do you get your knees used to hard surfaces?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 09:06 PM PDT

Today in a contemporary dance class, the combo had a lot of floor work on our knees. Mine were screaaaaming for mercy. I see ya'll on your knees in various poses that make me cringe with pain!

How do you do it? Any tips on getting knees used to being on the ground? I have no issues sitting back on my calves/thighs, but the patella* gets all whiny when I attempt it. Help!

*At least I think it's the patella - it feels a little squishy and moves around a bit when I put weight on it.

Groin pain for almost a year - any advice?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:54 PM PDT

Hi, I was diagnosed with an adductor strain by my doctor. I never actually felt the injury happen, I'm assuming it happened over time. I've been to a physiotherapist and have tried anti inflammatory medication. I also apply ice twice a day and do some stretches they showed me. I feel that it has gotten a little better in the last few months, to a point where I can go about my day without suffering, but I still feel that my groin isn't fully healed, and it's been almost a year.

    Anyone have any advice?

Stiff neck. It's hard to turn head

    Posted: 06 Jul 2021 12:17 AM PDT

I noticed it's hard to turn my head to the side. My right side is even worse. I have a very stiff neck and shoulders due to chronic anxiety and tension and poor posture. Any tips? I'm also afraid to crack my neck because one time I cracked it and it hurt so I worry about possible injuries. Any good easy stretches or good ways to release the tension? I have been starting to get massages which has helped a little but idk. I'm also a bit scared of hurting myself stretching too much. I'm also not flexible at all. I've realized this is likely also from sitting and being on the computer for years with bad posture and not stretching often.

    Splits using water resistance?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 07:14 PM PDT

If practicing my flexibility bores me and I'd rather chill in the pool... Can I combine the pool and water drills to improve my flexibility for the splits?

If so, what kind of drills? And if this method slower to my goals? I'm still about 2 feet off the ground in the splits forward and side.

Why are you supposed to do 3rd world squats with feet facing forward?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 12:19 PM PDT

Why does everything I find say feet facing forward on third world squats, but when actually squatting with weight, they say to point the toes out at an angle. Also, with feet facing forward should knees still track over the toes? Or should they be outside of the toes?
