Posted: 26 Jul 2021 08:54 AM PDT I just finished my 200 hr YTT about 2 months ago, and through my training, we discussed a lot about how we are not our ego. We are not the clothes we wear or the music we listen to and that sort of thing. We experience it and we notice it but we are not those things. This is a very freeing concept to me initially. It tells me we can move fluidly throughout life without grasping. But lately, i am having the opposite reaction to this. I am still wondering "who am I? where do I fit in? It's fun to fit in certain buckets at times especially if you are trying to meet new people." How do you blend these concepts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jul 2021 07:23 PM PDT I just like the feeling of yoga when it really hurts. Does that make sense?? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jul 2021 07:19 AM PDT For some - the "deepest expression" of a pose is not the most advanced. My teacher says we should calibrate to capacity. Many paths one goal. [link] [comments] |
Need help with the cow in my cat/cow Posted: 26 Jul 2021 03:14 PM PDT Title says it all really, I've been getting way more flexible since I started doing yoga every day, but one aspect that I really can't figure out is the arch of my back when I'm in a tabletop. It just doesn't want to bend back that way, in fact it's basically flat no matter how much I try to push my heart to the earth. I had a bit of bad posture that's been steadily improving, but I'd like some tips to help me open up. It almost feels like my mid-upper back needs to unlock. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jul 2021 01:54 PM PDT I'm on day 5 of mild to moderate symptoms of COVID and have been trying to do some restoration yoga to help maintain balance, but I've noticed I'm super inflexible now. Other times I've been sick I've never experienced this. Has anyone that had COVID experienced this, and how did it go? [link] [comments] |
Best yoga positions for a glute injury? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 12:55 PM PDT I'm relatively new to yoga and I'm looking for stretches that won't put pressure on the glutes because I've injured one of mine. Are there any yoga videos that are specifically for this kind of injury? [link] [comments] |
Seated forward fold causing back pain. Posted: 26 Jul 2021 04:33 AM PDT Hi everybody. Hope this is ok to post here. I've been doing yoga on and off for about 8 years - I am far from advanced but also far from a beginner. I've attended in person classes but mostly do yoga at home with YouTube videos and such. That said, I've also had very bad back pain for many years. Been to doctors and nothing structurally wrong - just general muscle spasms but they get very bad. Yoga has generally been good for my back - and core strengthening of any kind has been helpful - but seated forward fold always causes my lower back to feel very strained. Even if my back is generally feeling ok. Now the obvious answer is I'm folding too hard or pulling too much, but the thing is, I've tried going lighter and at this point I'm barely folded at all and can still feel the strain. And I can do standing forward fold with no issues at all. Has anyone heard of something like this? Could my sitting posture me so wrong that I'm hinging incorrectly or something? I hope to get to some in person classes soon so maybe someone can look but no one in the pst has ever corrected me or noticed anything wrong. At this point I just skip this pose, which isn't the end of the world, but a bit frustrating. Thanks for any advice! [link] [comments] |
Pre-yoga electrolytes for sculpt classes? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 09:52 AM PDT Hi all! So stoked that my studio is open again and I've been trying to go as often as my body allows. I've recently started taking sculpt classes, which is a mix between vinyasa flow, cardio, and static holds with dumbbells. And it's ~100F in there! This class ALWAYS kicks my butt, being on a cyclical keto diet probably doesn't make it easier. My pre-yoga routine is to carb up with some complex carbs like rice 3-4 hrs beforehand, and then a banana or two 30 minutes before. Yesterday I drank some electrolytes beforehand and had one of my best classes ever and felt strong almost to the end. I had always thought electrolytes were for post-workout. Can anyone chime in with the benefits of pre-yoga electrolytes? Is that a real thing, or did I just happen to have a killer class? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Seeing colors in savasana question Posted: 26 Jul 2021 08:28 AM PDT Usually when I close my eyes while settling into savasana I will see multiple faded colors. Occasionally, I'll see just one block of super intense color....usually it's either green or blue. Does this mean my heart/throat chakra is balanced, or is that an indication to an imbalance, or something else completely? [link] [comments] |
Walmart vs Target: who has better cheap mats? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 07:32 AM PDT My budget is as low as possible but I'm told to get 5mm or 6mm is this true? [link] [comments] |
What are some good flows for progression? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:38 PM PDT I usually watch 20-30min flows on YouTube and do them in the morning. I would say I do this 4-5 times a week. I have only been doing it a month, but what are some good channels/videos for progression. I want to gain flexibility, strength and toning from yoga. [link] [comments] |
