Posted: 24 Jul 2021 04:05 PM PDT Hello! Does anyone here practise Ashtanga regularly using Down Dog app? Would you say it's good for a beginner that wants to get into Ashtanga? I have a few months experience with Vinyasa and Hatha yoga. Thank you for your thoughts. [link] [comments] |
What are the best yoga poses/sequences for tight quads? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 08:57 AM PDT I am a runner and cyclist. I find that when I do yoga that's labelled as being good for quads I just can't even get into the poses. Help? I've been doing yoga for about a year using mostly YouTube instructors (I can't really afford anything else at this point) any advice would be helpful! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 02:29 PM PDT I am having trouble during balancing poses. Any stretches or poses to help the pain? I have mostly flat feet. [link] [comments] |
I think this is the best place for my question about getting out of stretches. Posted: 24 Jul 2021 05:34 PM PDT So I have been stretching my hips with the intention of sitting in lotus. I have made huge leaps towards being able to do so, but one problem I have is once I get into a deep stretch that requires breathing to stay, I tense up so much and feel extreme pain when getting out of this stretch. I lay on my stomach, with my pelvis flush on the ground and point my toes away from eachother trying to make sure my knees and ankles and hips are flush with the ground. This has been amazing for my sitting positions but Im in so much pain only when I try to get out. Any advice? Because without advice I will continue to deal with the pain and likely overcome it, but here I am asking for advice…. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 09:40 AM PDT Meditate daily for 30 minutes but when it comes to flexibility I am quite lacking. Just starting out and want to know everyone's origin story. How do I get started? Apps, yoga centers, videos, poses, styles. Anything is welcome! [link] [comments] |
I am trying to learn more advanced poses and have a question Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:35 AM PDT At first when I tried to go into the wheel pose I couldn't then one day I found that I could but just as my head was about to lift off the floor I got shocked by the blood going to my head because I dont normally do inversions and I felt nauseous. Ive been trying to get into the wheel pose more and I dont feel shocked anymore and it goes fine. just one issue my head remains solid on the floor and it won't lift. I cant figure out which muscle I need to use to lift it or maybe im tight somewhere and its stopping me from being able to lift my head. [link] [comments] |
Hip pain caused by poses like half moon Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:00 AM PDT I have been practicing for about 3 years. I currently practice vinyasa flow 3-4 times a week but I have taken breaks over the years due to injuries/life. I recently have developed hip discomfort on the left side. The discomfort is usually triggered in half moon pose or some other one leg balance poses. It depends, some one leg balance poses feel fine. I'm avoiding hip opening things like reclined butterfly, pigeon, happy baby, etc. I took a week off from practice to heal and it came back once I started up again. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I'm planning on asking my doc for a PT but I'd like to know if others have experienced the same. I am too flexible and prone to injuries as a result. Flexibility is a curse lol [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jul 2021 10:27 AM PDT I've been thinking of investing in a yoga wheel and was wondering if anyone had any feedback! Recommendations for brands, how you've incorporated one into your practice, any benefits you've noticed, etc. Anything you have to say about them is welcome! Thank you in advance friends ☀️🧘🏼♀️ [link] [comments] |
Tips for improving airplane pose and standing splits with tight hamstrings? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 08:35 AM PDT I've been doing yoga daily for a few months now and I'm noticing significant improvement in pretty much all the poses I'm practising, but my hamstrings are still pretty tight, especially the left one (which makes sense I think, since I'm right handed, so my right side is more stretched out). Basically when I stand on my left leg and try to lift my right leg while keeping the hips square I can barely lift it to the position of parallel to the floor and I feel very intense pulling on my left hamstring. It's not an issue at all when I'm opening my hips a little, but I've been told that the correct way is to keep the hips square. While I think that I'm making some progress at stretching my hamstrings (depending on a day I can actually rest my heels on the floor in a downward dog now), those standing poses are still an issue. Do you have any tips on how to deal with this? I try to stretch after every session, but I'm not noticing much improvement. [link] [comments] |
Hot Yoga with thick, long curly hair? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 04:46 AM PDT As a dude with newly long hair… ugh. Hot yoga can be pretty suffocating! Are there like hair wraps people use? [link] [comments] |
