- What’s your favorite pose for relaxation or taking a break in between? Somehow I don’t feel completely relaxed in savasana. I prefer happy baby or wounded warrior. Even down dog is better to take a break during vinyasa.
- Does anyone have experience using the Manduka Eko Mat for hot yoga? If so, can it be used without a towel? Is there a break-in period? I just got one and it seems to get extremely slippery when wet but the packaging says it should get get more grippy when wet.
- How do you like the super thick yoga mats that are showing up everywhere? Until very recently I only saw mats that are 4-5 mm thick. Now I see those that are twice as thick or more. I have one but the mat on top of carpet makes for sore arches. May be they are better on wood or harder floors?

| Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:24 PM PDT Hello all, on mobile so sorry for formatting. I am new to yoga and have taken a couple classes here and there. however after every class I feel incredibly nauseaus, and even threw up after a session. I have noticed that it usually happens after a few downward dog positions, which makes sense because I do have some motion sickness. I do want to continue learning yoga and am hoping I get used to it enough where I don't feel as sick after a class anymore. but for now I would like to avoid downward dog as much as possible. what's a good alternative for it? also as a side note: who would you recommend on youtube for beginners to yoga? | Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:52 PM PDT Hi! I'm a bit of a completionist and I want to try to do all of the different styles of yoga on the app. But I'm curious on how you guys would rank the levels of difficulty of the different styles. I know that it's subjective to a certain point but I'm just looking to try to go from easiest to hardest in a general way. So you don't have to look, the styles are: Full Practice Hatha Gentle Restorative Quick Flow No Warm-Up Yin Chair Yoga Ashtanga Sun Salutations Hot 26 Technically also Yoga Nidra is on there but that's different in my opinion lol. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
New guy to Yoga here, would love some tips!! Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:52 AM PDT I decided to kill some of this sedentary life that the ever cruel society is forcing me to have and I decided to start Yoga! Unfortunately, I have no ideea how to do PROPER yoga, since I heared that many people talk about Yoga like it is basic stretching, which I know is not. So, beautiful people, if you have any links, any opinions, any tips, and would give me the honour of having some of your precious time, my poor body will thank you 3000! [link] [comments]

Best type of yoga for someone w/ no experience. Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:59 PM PDT Hey so I have no yoga experience and I'm looking for something that helps calm your breathing throughout the day. But when I search I always come across a million different ways on what's best. Would I be better off just following yoga w/ Adriennes basic yoga video? [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Jul 2021 10:32 AM PDT Hey all, I'm looking for some quality, guided Yoga Nidra sessions (wind down / sleep). I purchased Kamini Desai's app, but too bad there are only 5 sessions on there for now :) Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Jul 2021 12:08 PM PDT Hi! Hoping for some advice, I will try to keep it short for you guys :) I've been a yoga student for about two years, and as my practice has grown I've become more and more interested in committing to the ashtanga style of practice (and more generally to the 8 fold path). Most of my history with yoga has primarily involved vinyasa and yin, and I've noticed that ashtanga is a little harder on my knees than other styles because of all the lotus variations. Anybody else experience this, and have suggestions on how I can protect my knees from damage? I'm working on the half primary series right now, if that helps give some context. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:27 PM PDT I'm thinking of writing a story that involves Yoga in one way or another, I'm also looking for a co-writer to help me with the story, let me know if you're interested in helping. [link] [comments]
A few questions from a beginner… Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:39 AM PDT So I've tried yoga several times over the years, but have never quite managed to get into it. Until last year. I went to a beginners class locally and I loved it! Teacher was fab - explained everything as we went. It was very gentle and calming. I've found myself actually getting excited for my weekly session (sad, I know!). But I have a few concerns/questions… I really struggle to get my heels flat on the floor during downward dog. I don't know if this comes from years of wearing heels in my younger years? I'm also struggling to touch the ground during a forward fold without bending my knees. And I mean significantly bending at the knees. Also, if I'm trying a seated forward fold, I'm terrible! I'm talking, can't get past a right angle! Are these the types of things which may come with time and patience, or am I doing something wrong. My yoga teacher never seems to be concerned about it, but she's very much the "do what's best/right for you" type. I'm getting myself a little frustrated with how inflexible I am even in the most basic moves. [link] [comments]

Will I ever be able to do malasana? Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:08 AM PDT I've been practicing yoga somewhat consistently for almost 10 years now, and a pose that feels still so out of reach is malasana. I have plenty of knee mobility to squat all the way down, but simply must lift on to my toes to do so; to keep my heels grounded I have to lift into a much more active squat. I have chronic hip tightness (some from an old injury, some that I think is, alas, just anatomical) but what feels like the primary limiting factor is mobility in my Achilles tendons. Any tips? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]
Hands slipping during down dog Posted: 09 Jul 2021 01:32 AM PDT Hi guys, I've been practicing yoga for a little more than a year now. But whenever I practice downward dog, my hands tend to slip. My shoulders also begin to hurt because I'm gripping the mat with palm and fingers to avoid slipping. And therefore I can't remain in the pose for long. Maybe my hands are too dry and that's why they slip because there isn't any friction. I don't know. I don't know what to do. I've changed my mat a couple times to ones that are more anti slip. But it's the same issue each time. Any suggestions would help greatly. Thank you. [link] [comments]
