- I've only recently gotten into yoga (two weeks), but it helps me keep my calm. I work in food retail and I'm stressed beyond belief at the moment. Yoga is my new safe haven, and this is my little yoga space.
- [Comp] Pike here I come. Just a couple more weeks.
- [Comp] - Uttanasana after a lot of stretching.
- Claimed a little square of tranquility for myself while isolating at my mum's place.
- I love puppy pose. I have alot of science work to do, so I sit a lot. I sometimes don't do yoga in the day. I get up every 30 min or so and do 5 breathes holding a puppy pose. This is a under rated stretch. I'd do a down ward dog to but ugh like puppy pose better.
- Remembering mindfulness...
- COMP - after some time away from inversions, I decided today was a good day to go upside down again. I missed you tri-pod headstand!
- Flying pigeon!
- Blood rushes to head after poses
- Online yoga classes emphasizing the spiritual aspect
- Sending Love and Light!!
- help with disability + yoga TIA
- Breathing Help
- Discomfort when bringing knee to my chest
- Day 22 of #30DayDBTCChallenge
- Close to getting my pike and am freaked out - help!
- Wrist surgery pain- pose alternatives?
- I have a question for those of you who are advanced. Is it better to first master headstand and forearm stand before starting at a handstand? Or does it matter? Should I focus I getting up my shoulder/arm strength before starting that journey?
- Pulled hip flexor? :(

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:40 PM PDT Today I opted for a restorative session on the Down Dog app today and realized that I forget to breathe. I've been so focused on difficult sessions and difficult poses that I forgot the core of yoga. Looking forward to fitting in more restorative sessions into my weeks after today's realization :) [link] [comments]

| Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:52 AM PDT I'm quarantined at home, taking virtual classes, and I had started to feel stuck in my practice. My motivation is almost nonexistent. But something about today just clicked. Maybe it was my teacher's opening remarks about letting go. Maybe my body finally overtook my brain and told it to sloooow down. But this morning, during class, I was able to get into Eka Pada Galavasana (Flying Pigeon) for the first time, in almost five years of regular practice. And then I did it again, on the other side. I felt completely stable and in tune with what each part of my body was doing in order to support the pose. It was epic! What poses have you made progress on during this time? I'm cheering for you! | Blood rushes to head after poses Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:49 PM PDT Extremely new to yoga because why not, you know? I like it so far, but I can't help my head pounding for up to 15 minutes after each session. It always happens when I lower my head (like in downward dog) but even if I'm just laying flat on my back and then I come back up. Is there any way to prevent this? [link] [comments] |
Online yoga classes emphasizing the spiritual aspect Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:34 AM PDT Hi all! I am looking to see if anyone has recommendations on any online platforms or yoga teachers who are offering classes and also emphasis the spiritual aspect/mediation/mind body connection! I find a lot of teachers skip that aspect just because not a lot of people are interested in it - which is fine for that audience. Any yoga is good yoga! But looking just for more of the mind body spiritual aspect (: [link] [comments]

help with disability + yoga TIA Posted: 15 Apr 2020 07:58 PM PDT Hello r/yoga, My name is jenny. Long story short but I had meningitis as a child and as a result my right foot is significantly shorter than my left. I find it hard to plank or balance while doing yoga but my legs and core would really benefit from having a more traditional yoga poses vs. modified ones. Does anyone have any advice for me to practice yoga? TIA [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:54 PM PDT I am chubby, and have notoriously garbage lungs (even before i gained weight because of meds lol) When i try to do any pose that requires me to pull my knees to my chest and squash my stomach it's insanely difficult to breathe- any idea how i can remedy this? This happens on both my back and on my knees. [link] [comments]
Discomfort when bringing knee to my chest Posted: 15 Apr 2020 02:15 PM PDT If I raise my knee to my chest whilst lying on my back I'll feel a slight pain at the front of my hip, somewhere in the area in this photo (photo not of me). It's not a really painful pain, just feels a bit like something is digging in or pushing on something? I'm not looking for any advice per se, just wondered if anyone perhaps knew what it might be so I knew if it was common or so I could look into it further? I'm not really sure where else to ask this and I can't see a physio or anything so thought maybe somewhere here might be able to help me! Thank you! [link] [comments]

Close to getting my pike and am freaked out - help! Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:01 PM PDT I have short arms (they've been measured multiple times) and notoriously tight everything in my lower body, so piking has been the bane of my existence for pretty much all my life. I'm that person that you swear is trying to be dramatic when they reach for their toes and are still 10 inches short, despite being able to split all three ways. I have been working diligently for the past 5 years on reaching my toes. Yoga twice a week in addition to my other boxing/circus/skating classes which have active stretching components. I'm FINALLY able to reach my toes and am sometimes even able to get my palms flat on the ground. The problem is that when I can get my hands flat on the ground, the feeling is so unnatural and unfamiliar to me - and my arms are just so damn short - that I feel unstable. Like I'm going to fall over my head. My long-armed friends say they don't have this problem, so I suspect it's because I have to force my center of gravity and balance off in order to get my short arms down that far; but maybe it's just because I'm unfamiliar with being in this position and most people feel this way. Has anyone else experienced this and can give me any advice? I'm almost too nervous to keep stretching my pike. [link] [comments]
Wrist surgery pain- pose alternatives? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:36 PM PDT Hello, I am a beginner to yoga. About 5-6 years ago I had a surgery on my wrist to remove a cyst. Since then I cannot bear my weight on my left wrist making it almost impossible to follow along with most of the online yoga classes. The only way I can bear weight is if I put my fist on the floor which hurts my knuckles after a while, or if I use my elbows/forearms. Does anyone have any alternatives for me to do instead of poses like downward dog, cat-cow, etc.? Thank you in advance. My wrist pain has kept me from yoga for so long and I really want to be able to enjoy it the same way I did years ago. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:41 PM PDT I am new to yoga and trying to build strength. I think I might have hurt my hip flexors from doing downward dog to plank to chest. My arms are weak so I might be pushing a lot of strain and weight there when moving down. Does anyone have an advice on how to proceed or how to manage the hip flexor pain? [link] [comments]
