    Snap. Crackle. Pop. Click.

Snap. Crackle. Pop. Click. I'm only in the early twenties. Why on earth does my body sound like this? I recount the years I spent sitting on the computer after school.

I have taken up an almost-daily yoga practice to stretch. I was quite alarmed to discover just how tight my hips, shoulders, and hamstrings were and still are. I was even more alarmed to discover how poor my balance and posture is. And yet, I'm the only person I know who is doing yoga... What?!

Is it just "normal" for people to live sedentary lives and never-ever move their body properly? If that's the norm, someone tell me how it's possible for the population to ignore their creakiness. I don't understand.

    Help for tension.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 05:55 PM PDT

Hello friends. Lately I've been suffering from a very stiff neck and a tight upper back and shoulders. Don't know if it's stress causing it or what. But was hoping you guys can give me some exercises or poses that can relieve some of it. For some reason my upper body always holds a lot of tension. Chest, upper back, shoulders, neck etc. any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a question about "yoga butt."

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 02:15 PM PDT

So, I started yoga again for the first time since last year today. About 2 hours after I did it, my glutes are super sore. Is this yoga butt, and is it common for the soreness to happen right away?

specific pain spot in lower left back

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 04:19 PM PDT

I've been practicing yoga for about 7 years now. I'm a male, in my early 50's, started mid 40s. Absolutely love it. Lately I've had a sticky spot on my back. Lower left. Kind of just left of my sacrum. It's flaring up, and I'm only doing online classes right now so can't work it out with a teacher in the same room.

Anyone have ideas on poses or stretches to target that area, see if I can ease the pain there? I currently start every session with a supine twist, and make sure I end with one as well. That helps somewhat. but it's not quite enough.

Open to suggestions and advice, please.

Conheci hoje o raja yoga de Patanjali. É de uma estética libertária ter trocas mais conscientes do que se reverbera/nutre nosses corpas, no sentido de nos manter caminhantes. É para ter sentido que nosso movimento desenha o outro amanhã.

Trying to find my first in person class — and nervous?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 06:28 AM PDT

    Hi everyone!

So I'm pretty novice to doing yoga, I've been practicing casually with friends for years and will watch a short video on yt a few times a month, but I'd like to learn more and get better so I'm looking in my area to attend a real life yoga class but I'm finding I'm not sure where to start!

It sounds silly but I'm kind of nervous to do yoga in front of strangers, I don't know what to expect and what kind of a class or venue I should seek out for beginners. Should I sign up for a one off class in a gym somewhere? BYO mat for sure right? Should I expect to make small talk or just set up and get to it?

Let me know what to expect and what advice you'd give to a first timer !!! Thank you

Yoga class/videos focusing specifically on balance on feet?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 09:58 AM PDT

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on specific flows/videos that focus a lot on balancing in standing positions or just on my feet in general. I am little top heavy and I feel I always lose my balance more in standing positions

I know of individual exercises, but I was wondering if anyone had any specific routines they had to improve on that. Obviously most of yoga involved balance, but I want to focus specifically on my balance when standing

    Isha Kriya from Isha Foundation

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 09:11 AM PDT

Practicing isha Kriya left me with psychological problems like unreasonable fears about random topics and recurring brain fogs accompanied with uncomfortable pressure in between eyebrows.I practised it for a year and left it about a year ago but the problem stays. The effects are fading away but quite slowly? What to do? Is there any way to get rid of these effects quickly or reverse the changes the meditation caused?

Hi, I’m looking for a microphone to be hooked up to a speaker and used for teaching an outdoor yoga class

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 12:16 PM PDT

It will ideally be wireless, but I'm wondering if a headset or lavalier is better and less likely to shift or come off while I demonstrate? To clarify, this is just for teaching in-person classes outdoors, not on zoom (I use AirPods for that). What would other teachers recommend?

Getting from the ground up to plank through chaturanga

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 09:38 PM PDT

I'm trying to work on this transition. I do a vinyasa through chaturanga, come down all the way so belly is on the ground, cobra etc., then my instructor says to position arms back, scoop your belly, and push to come back up to plank.

I can push up about 2 inches then I am stuck-- what are some other cues to help strengthen this area? Maybe I am not using my core enough, or my chest just needs more strength? Thanks!

How can I relieve tension in my neck that steams from my practice but stays throughout the day?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 04:00 AM PDT

I have been doing videos in Yoga with Tim's membership program for a couple of months now. These past couple of weeks I've noticed a lot of tension in my neck. In my practice he works on keeping the ribs down and says that will show the tension in your neck. Which it does! What I am not sure how to do is relieve that tension and instead I feel my neck constantly straining. What do I need to do with the rest of my body to relieve this?

New to yoga - I've got 2 questions

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 11:39 PM PDT

Hello everyone, to make this quick and short I'll just spare the details.

I've (15m) recently started doing yoga in the mornings, simply following some 10 minute stretching exercises around 15 minutes after waking up. I've never done any sort of stretching exercise either through out the day or before sports prior to the past week, I've really been enjoying it, especially because I read first thing in the morning and I've never had the full energy to concentrate on the text within the first hour or so of waking up. I have been experiencing some pain in my hands when in plank position, especially my pinkies and the Ulner Nerve (Honestly I have no idea if that's the right nerve, I'll just be searching up the muscles or nerves of what I think hurts.) I get an almost electric shock sensation, like the sensation you get when you use an electrical muscle stimulator. They're quick jabs really and don't hurt much, but still are quite worrying. When asked in downward dog, I can't fully plant my soles to the ground or else the Popliteal Fossa of both my legs starts to hurt. I can only assume it's because I'm new to yoga and my body isn't used to these positions but I'm still not sure if that's the case or if I'm doing the whole excersise wrong. Either way it skews my pose and it gives me a hard time flowing into other positions.

That's really about it, just holding those two positions is really uncomfortable, I either have to take my palms off the mat, or stand on my toes. If anyone has any tips, advice, or solutions to these that would be great, thank you.
