Ashtanga yoga: Beginner Yogi looking for direction

    Beginner Yogi looking for direction

I started my practice of yoga just this January (so please forgive me for my ignorance!) I "shopped" around for web-sites and video that would give me a good idea of what yoga is all about. I finally decided to try YogaDownload.com and have really enjoyed it. I've tried out several styles and believe I'm settling on Ashtanga as my style of choice. However, with a site like YogaDownload there are SO MANY choices and so many videos I'm having trouble figuring out what order I should practice them in. I want to start with basics and add postures and movements in a logical, ever increasing order. Does anyone here use the site or have other recommendations? There are so many terms thrown around that it gets confusing to a newbie. Note that there are no classes in my somewhat rural neck of the woods, thus the solo practice via web videos.

Do I start with a "half" or "primary" sequence? What's the difference? Okay, this is getting somewhat long-winded so I'll leave it there for now. Direction will be greatly appreciated!

    Back of shoulder/infraspuntus

    Posted: 08 Apr 2020 03:14 AM PDT

Hey this question is for any very well versed Ashtangi with regard to anatomy. I typically speaking, have a very consistent practice and go up to the first 6 postures of second at the end of primary. I have this consistent problem that comes back every time I practice over an extended period of time under the 6-day process. I begin to feel an ache on the back side of the shoulder, pretty sure it's the infraspunatus. I really do think that my form is fairly good in terms of jump backs, but could strain sometimes just not be avoided? I hear a clicking every now and again. I will say that actions like hanging and pull ups seem to alleviate the symptoms. Is it possible my body is just refusing to adjust to repetitive pushing motions? Wondering if anyone else has dealt with back side of shoulder issues. Also, pressure point work with a cross ball seems to helpful. Thanks.
