| Posted: 10 Apr 2020 01:39 PM PDT Hello dear Yogis, I have only recently started with Yoga, around four months ago. I got lucky since almost in the beginning I had a chance to discover Ashtanga and to fell in love with it. Since I really enjoy reading I am curious if you have any books for a recommendation? That being said I am mostly interested in philosophy oriented Ashtanga or Yoga (in general) books. Thank you :) [link] [comments] |
| Dedication vs self-compassion in the practice Posted: 10 Apr 2020 05:33 AM PDT I've been practicing for a little over 4 years, and my teacher has taught me through part of third series. I have a lot of respect for my teacher, but I don't understand why he keeps giving me poses, when I feel like I'm so far behind on what I view as the point of all this: meditating during practice, and trying to translate that into being a more compassionate person. I feel trapped between being a 'bad Ashtangi' (lacking tapas) when I replace practice with seated meditation and surya namaskar, and being a 'bad Ashtangi' (not following ahimsa with myself) when the daily 2 hour practice feels like a physical slog. If you have felt this way and/or talked to your teacher about it, I would love any input! [link] [comments] |
