Welcome to Form Check Friday! Here is the link to all previous Form Check Fridays

Please post a photo or video of the stretch you'd like to be critiqued. Do include any specific questions you have about your form.

Your video or photo should be:

    • Oriented the correct way, we want to see the lines of your body
    • Be formatted such that there isn't unnecessary video of you preparing for the move (keep it short)
    • Have the important bits of the movement clearly visible (multiple angles is always useful)
    • Include the whole body

    Rules for critiquing form

    • Constructive criticism only
    • Feel free to point others to resources that address their form and/or questions if you aren't "qualified" to give them advice yourself

If your form is awesome, consider posting it in the Show Off Sunday thread!

    Regaining Ability

I used to have a greater degree of flexibility and have been training about a year. Today I got both my legs to over 90 while stretching on the floor. It's a small milestone, but small progress is progress!

Split in 30 days app by Leap Fitness Group + Not sure where I am or where to go

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:20 AM PDT

    Hey people!

I'm a 26 year old gal from Norway, trying to reach my long time wish to get into the splits.

I've been following a pretty neat app called Splits in 30 Days. I don't know how many of you have tried it, but it gives exercises four days in a row, one resting day, then four more days, rest, etc. and a bit of variation per day and some harder exercises as you progress. It has one beginner, one intermediate and one advanced routine (or front splits, front splits + semi side splits, and side splits). Probably don't need to tell you that I didn't get into the splits in 30 days, and I didn't really expect that to happen either. I have, however, become quite flexible, and I can now easily touch not just my toes but the back of my feet when I do the sitting forward stretch (sorry if that's not what it's called, I have my app in French haha)!

I'm wondering first, have any of you tried this app, and what is you opinion of it?

And then, maybe I'm being too impatient, but I'm now on day 23 of intermediate (so all together on day 53, since I did the whole beginner routine), and I feel nothing's really happening further. The intermediate routine focuses a bit on side splits, which I have a vague feeling is impossible for me to do because I've always been extraordinarily stiff when trying to sit and pull me legs to the sides, we're talking not much more than 90 degreees (probably the stiffest girl in my class), and I also have big difficulties keeping my back straight when sitting down and legs out (especially my lower back).

Should I just keep going (probably repeating the routines), or should I try a new routine? Am I being too impatient? Obviously I am comparing myself to some other people here doing an amazing progress in 30 days, but I also know maybe my body is just different than theirs and naturally more stiff.

Sorry for no pictures to show my progress to get critique and stuff, but I think I'm about one and a half hand away. I also know I need to work more on straightening (squaring, is that what you call it?) my hips, but it's hard to remember. Doing my right leg forward is harder since I do feel some knee pain there for some reason.

    Thanks in advance!

Can someone suggest me quads stretches?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 05:23 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

I have really really tight quads. I want request this because the most basic stretches dont work for me.

The grabbing the foot while standing/on the ground: besides needing help to reach point, when I manage to grab I dont feel anything stretching, pulling, tight, not even my quad

Lounges: these I feel more in the hip than anywhere else!

What I usally do but feel like doesnt progress is to "sit" on my knees (my bum does not touch the feet) and push my hip up while holding my hands back.

    Could you help me?

What are some good stretches to get a better range of motion for moves like this?

Need help with downward dog and practice in general.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:39 AM PDT

So i started to be more serious about practice, i just did day 1 of total body yoga workout and feel wasted. How do beginners follow when this feels too fast? Downward dog was the biggest problem, and i have had difficuties understanding some hip based stretches, but im more puzzled to how to follow along when you cannot so even basics.

So i made a picture, and someone could maybe guide me how to stretch to correct this. Notice my spine, which for now just will not budge, and my feet feel like there is zero chance of them going down ( and hanging deposit of fat but thats another issue 😂 )
