Have a "stupid" question and are afraid to ask it? (Or don't want to make a whole thread for it?) Well, feel free to ask away in this thread! There's no such thing as a stupid question. This is also a great opportunity for the rest of the community to help each other out.

    • As always, read the FAQ to make sure your question isn't answered already.
    • If you're looking for the Motivational Month threads from the past, they are all here in our Wiki.
    • You can also use the search bar to see if an answer to your question exists already.

Why doesn't starting stretching include anything dynamic?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 08:04 PM PDT

New here, just curious on the philosophy behind it?

I've heard dynamic is good for pre-workout and static is better for post but what are the long term advantages of both?

    Stretching without warming up?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 02:47 PM PDT

I've seen a lot that it's better to stretch after a good warmup but I'm wondering if stretching without warming up is also fine or if it could cause injuries or any benefits of it, any stretches that I should or shouldn't do before warming up? Thanks(:

    How do I start out?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 10:00 AM PDT

I (f17) have never really done any stretching, arobics, nor yoga in my life. I recently tried doing a wheel pose with friends who wanted me to try it out and my back would not curve at all. I then tried upward facing dig which I had done before when I was in elementary. It still didn't bend that much. My friends said that my upper back was too stiff to do it all the way and when I looked at a pic they took, they were right. I had barely any flexibility in my back and it's mainly my upper back. Does anyone know a good routine specifically for this?

    butterfly stretch help-

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 11:59 AM PDT

I have very tight hip flexors and have been working on relieving this and trying to become more flexible. I've seen improvement in everything but the butterfly stretch and my knees are very high off the ground. i usually feel the stretch in my groin. It's hard to push them down to feel the stretch without feeling pressure on my lower back. What am I doing wrong? Should I try other stretches for that area?

Would love some help loosening my back and hamstrings! Not sure what to search for exactly.

    Posted: 05 Apr 2020 11:43 AM PDT

I'm trying to research what next steps to do. I've been nerve flossing and feel like I should be able to start stretching out now and make some progress.

My main issues - I cannot bend forward without rounding my back. My back feels insanely tight and aches if I try to straighten it. It's like a force field prevents me of leaving forward if I'm sitting with my legs out in front of me. As I type this, my whole back is uncomfortable and in pain from me trying to stretch forward yesterday - mid, lower and upper.

I also know my hamstrings are insanely tight. It's nearly embarrassing how bad they are.

My goal is to bend forward with a straight back and touch the floor if standing/my toes if sitting , then move onto to other things.

Do I work on the back or hamstrings first/most? And any material you recommend? I'd love to find a routine to do daily. I really want to get a handle on this and stop constantly being hunched or in pain if bending!

Even any suggestions on where to look or how to explain what I'm looking for to research would be super appreciated. Thanks for any recommendations (:
