Posted: 25 Apr 2020 03:41 AM PDT Hi there, during the current lockdown I have been working on my hip flexibility/mobility, and it is going fairly well, but I have one tight spot that I just can't seem to diagnose/stretch to make it better. I am looking for any advice on which muscle it may be and stretches that might help. The best way I can describe it is that somewhere in the inner front of my right hip something is super tight when I try to raise my knee to my chest (or bend my torso down in a pancake type stretch). It almost feels like a locking sensation where as I raise the bent leg everything will be fine and then it will suddenly go very tight as the knee approaches the chest. When I try the lizard stretch (this one: https://marketing.gaia.com/wp-content/uploads/article-migration-image-1920x1080_lizard_pose_utthan_pristhasana-768x432.jpg) It almost feels like someone has put a small stone or ball on the inside of my right hip (when my eight leg is the forward leg) and I just cant move in to the stretch at all. I have been doing some hip flexor stretches, but these dont seem to have helped. Any guidance on stretches to try is most welcome! Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Confused about types of middle splits? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 10:50 PM PDT I'm really interested in getting my middle splits, but I'm confused about what the actual goal should be. In one goal, there's a person sitting up with their back straight like this. In the other goal, the person is bent over with their stomach to the ground like this. I honestly thought the first image, with the person sitting up, was the standard middle split until I looked up youtube tutorials, and saw that most people were aiming for the second bent-over pose. What should I be aiming for? Is the first pose sitting up less advanced than being bent-over? Does being able to do the second pose mean you can do the first? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Injured myself stretching, what's the quickest way to go back to stretching? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 07:00 PM PDT So I overstretched my hamstrings which is so incredibly tight that it causes pain. I believe I am past the icing stage, what should i do next? Strengthen? Gentle stretches? Get the blood flowing? [link] [comments]

Best stretches for front leg splits? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 08:52 AM PDT I've been working on my splits for a while now and I'm really close to getting on the floor. The only problem I have is that I can't straighten my front leg. My front knee stays bent when I try to go into splits. Any advice? [link] [comments]

Lateral tilt during hip flexor stretches Posted: 24 Apr 2020 10:51 AM PDT Hello everyone, I am currently looking to try and achieve my front splits and I have learned quite a bit about proper form. I have been making sure that my hips are squared in order to achieve a 'true' front split. I have a question about hip flexor stretches, the one where you are kneeling on the floor and you push your hips forward and downwards. I was wondering if it is normal to have a bit of a lateral tilt when kneeling. It seems like the hip of the leg that is up hikes higher than the one on the leg that I am stretching. Is this normal or do I have to correct this? I know that one of my legs is slightly longer than the other if that helps in any way. [link] [comments]
