Posted: 30 Sep 2020 10:10 AM PDT Its hard to word exactly what I'm talking about. But basically, I could practice for 15 days in a row and be just as tight for all 15 of those days. Then all of a sudden day 16 comes around and my head smacks my knees like I've been this flexible my whole life lol. Does that make sense?? [link] [comments] |

The days I don't want to practice are usually the best days Posted: 30 Sep 2020 11:02 AM PDT Does anyone else feel this way? Whenever I'm tired, annoyed, or just really don't want to practice - I usually have the best practice (powerful, relaxing, and super zen at the end). It's weird. But I always try to push through for this reason. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Sep 2020 07:42 AM PDT I'm not necessarily new to yoga but my daily practice is getting much more consistent. Something weird I've noticed is that my hips are just so crunchy now! Not in a bad or painful way, but they pop every time I move my legs in a certain way even when I'm not practicing. Anyone else have that experience? [link] [comments] |
What type of yoga has energized you the most? Posted: 30 Sep 2020 08:40 AM PDT There's so many types I can't decide which to stick to don't wanna mess up internal prana/kundalini. [link] [comments] |
Poses for shallow breathing / anxiety? Posted: 30 Sep 2020 06:15 PM PDT Hello, fellow anxiety sufferer here I'm wondering if there are poses that "force" belly breathing. Anatomically, my chest and intercostal muscles are shortened and tight and so belly breathing is sometimes difficult. I find forward folds help for some reason, and I'm curious about really good chest openers too. Thank you🤗 [link] [comments] |
Any advice for someone who is currently struggling to do their Yoga teacher training? ): Posted: 30 Sep 2020 05:13 PM PDT Hi mod- pls remove if this is inappropriate. I (24F) stumbled across this page when i was looking for inspiration/ advice pertaining to yoga. I just started my YTT 200h after contemplating about it for 2 years. And during my first day of YTT, i rmb feeling pretty... shit.. perhaps it's an ego thing bc everyone (other students) seem to be pretty advanced in terms of more physically demanding asanas (hand balances/ inversions etc). Even during our lectures (yoga philosophy etc), they seem to absorb the information much faster than i can grasp (sanskrit terms, the translations of yoga sutras etc) I am acutely aware of how lacking i am in physical strength (it's a frustratingly slow & difficult process for me to gain strength) so now the physical portion of training has become rather intimidating to me. Throughout the day in the back of my mind, I couldn't help but wonder things like - "why did you think you were capable of joining YTT? Who said you could teach?" I feel v much like an "imposter" amongst the other students - if that's the right way to describe it. Does anyone who has done their YTT experienced this? Or any advice on how i can tackle this? Can anyone explain to me the different types of yoga and what each type is targeted to? Posted: 30 Sep 2020 04:42 PM PDT I want to start practicing yoga mostly for my inner health/strength. I do want to tone up a bit however, I've got a bit of a gut. I'm currently in a caloric deficit and I am trying to strength train, but it's so boring. I want to change up my exercise a bit with... yoga! Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Sep 2020 08:20 AM PDT Raghunath Cappo Good morning and thank you to all that post here. This has become a valuable reference place for my yoga learnings. I discovered Yoga as I am sure many have recently. I went looking to the inter webs for content and tried several of the more popular YouTube Yoga practitioners. None really spoke to me until a random "Mens Yoga" search turned up Raghunath Cappo. He has a 30 day challenge of only 10 minute practices, and of course other longer sessions. But, the 10 minutes and his style really connected with me. The entire content is freely available at DoYouYoga.com, but you have to create an account. No affiliation, just wanted to pass this along as another option that might be for you. It was not long into the program that I discovered he used to be a punk rocker (Youth of Today) and hung out with Mobi when they were teens in CT. I just happen to see Youth of Today back in Nebraska when I was a pup… That sealed the deal. I have done the program 3 times now and will start a forth round tomorrow… 30 days. Today I did my first scale pose (Tolasana) successfully (day 30). Huge accomplishment for me. I try to do the daily practice twice during the day. And some days throw in a Yin practice which I really love. Those long poses are so relaxing and mind calming. After 90+ days. Back pain almost gone, or at least I feel in control of it and not the other way around. Down 20 pounds, increased flexibility, increased self confidence, increased awareness. This yoga is pretty powerful. Here is a YouTube link to a few of those 30 day classes if anyone is interested. rod https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQZp9C8w7xszTH3pn1ibihndqjEjoozC\_ [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Sep 2020 11:47 AM PDT I started getting into yoga regularly about two months ago now. At that time I was losing weight very slowly (and I have about 30 pounds to lose). I was doing everything from intermittent fasting to cutting out sugar (I already eat a plant based diet and do not drink alcohol) but I was losing maybe half a pound each week, sometimes even gaining a couple pounds. I was running and working out. Nothing. So anyway before I get too off topic, I started doing yoga and breathwork mainly for my mental health. I was developing really bad anxiety and depression. Well not only has yoga helped that but my weight also began melting away much faster. I now drop about 2-3 pounds per week. I definitely did not expect this when I started doing yoga. Now it could all be a coincidence but is it possible that yoga was the missing piece to the puzzle? [link] [comments] |

Trouble with leaning forward in butterfly pose Posted: 30 Sep 2020 12:38 AM PDT I'm working out using dumbbels and about two times a week I'm doing some yoga sessions. I'm pretty flexible (no trouble with, for example, pigeon or lizard), but doing butterfly pose I can't lean forward much, this one really blocks me almost immediately. What sort of stretches/muscles should I work on, to deepen the bend? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
