I caved and made a yoga video! Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:46 PM PDT Be aware that the queuing is off since I used my selfie mode for recording (learned my lesson). I felt SO good after recording this that I plan to do it weekly! Check back for more videos! Please provide any feedback or questions! [link] [comments]
Thank you teachers everywhere❤️ Posted: 05 Apr 2020 03:31 PM PDT I am so grateful for our teachers in this time of uncertainty. I've been blessed to be able to do zoom classes with our studio as well as seeing other past teachers and studios making classes available online. Your voices mean so much to us more than ever. It's very hard to express in words how much you mean to us and the positive impact you have had on our lives. Thank you for being here for us. We miss you and love you. Your students everywhere. Namaste 😊❤️🙏 [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:30 AM PDT So as an Indian I never realised so many non Indians also practised yoga. I mean I don't...but this sub just motivated me a lot... And will try to do it daily...keep going good humans. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2020 06:19 PM PDT I've taken up doing yoga at home, due to the pandemic. I've been doing my best to follow with yoga instructors online but I'd like to ask for some help and pointers as it's my first time really digging into the practice. I've become very interested in yoga and it honestly helped to calm my anxiety during this time. Several questions... 1. During downward dog, I can't touch my heels to the floor while keeping my legs straight. So, is it better practice to have my knees bent and feet flat or legs straight but heels off the ground? 2. How long till I begin feeling results in flexibility? 3. I have a wrist with an old time injury that causes it to hurt when I do practice, any suggestions to help with that? (When my wrist is bent or I put pressure on it, like in downward dog, it starts to ache and can become very stiff and sore) Other than those questions. I'm just really excited about it and would take any pointers! [link] [comments]
Am I potentially causing harm to my organs by adjusting belly fat to get a deeper stretch? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 03:58 PM PDT I have been practicing for about a year now. I have lost weight with changing my diet. With my home practice, I have started to "tuck" belly fat in during forward folds to allow myself room to do the stretching that I know I can do. Is this a concern or could it cause damage to organs? [link] [comments]
Something for a beginner that is straight to the point? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 06:08 PM PDT I realise I'm going to come off as a bit of an asshat. But here we go. I was involved in a motorcycle accident many years and was lucky enough not to have any serious injuries. Ever since, my body has been achy, my hip pops in and out, my knee collapses in on itself etc. I paid for private healthcare (UK), had an MRI and everything else - the doctors verdict, "your muscles are incredibly tight which is restricting your movement and causing these problems - do physio and yoga". With everything going on in the world, physio is out of the question so I turned to yoga - something I never saw myself doing. I've found many "beginner" tutorials on YouTube but they all feature this "find your inner self" crap (I realise a lot of people like this but I am so far from it, it hurts to listen to). I just need something that is strictly about the movements/stretches and less of this inner peace stuff. Any recommendations? [link] [comments]

Does anyone have experience with the SUGA mat? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:44 PM PDT I have had the same crappy grocery store yoga mat for almost 10 years and am finally in a position where I can afford to replace it with something better. I am looking for something very sustainable that will give a lot of grip as I am really prone to slipping. I really like the concept of the SUGA mats, but want some opinions before dropping a hundred bucks on a mat with limited online reviews. My other option is the eko Manduka mat, but I've heard they can be quite slippery. [link] [comments]
Newbie here! I've been doing oridinary calisthenics since 7 years ago. But... Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:26 PM PDT ...but not trusting on that factor so much, my question is: can I anyways develop advanced asanas like Samakonasana, Niralamba Sirsasana, Adho Mukha Vrksasana and so on if I'm new to yoga? I've been talking to a friend who has been into yoga for like 2 years and he told me to start from the basics. However my proper intention is to start first these positions as physical abilities and then, assume them as asanas. But your advice will count a lot on my decision. So please, let me know if I'm missing any part of the process. PS: I have experience with Vipassana meditation and some planche-based asanas, but I don't know if this even counts. Lots of metta and health for everyone. [link] [comments]
Suggestions for fun asanas/transitions to work on today? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 07:21 AM PDT I have a pretty solid arm balance practice. I'm always working on inversions (handstand and forearm stand) but am looking to change it up. Core exercises also welcome 😊 [link] [comments]
Question if this happen to you guys as well Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:21 AM PDT Hi, I am quite skinny and underweight. Anyway, I noticed that when I stand and I do a backward bend, by pushing the hips forward, that the right abdomen part sinks inward while the left side always remains stable and round... Anyone know why this happens? is it suppose to be like that? because I asked some people to do it and it doesn't seem to happen to them [link] [comments]
How do you monitor yourself and check you're doing poses correctly? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 03:52 AM PDT I've just moved into a rental property with no curtains in most rooms, so my yoga space is kind of small and in my bedroom. I liked going to classes at my local gym because one side of the room was a massive mirror, so I could see what my poses looked like and whether I was doing them correctly. I don't know how to do this at home, however. What do you guys do? Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Please help me find: yoga or similar practice that involves jumping up and down repeatedly. Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:53 PM PDT Apologies in advance for this odd request. About a year ago I attended a workshop and a yoga teacher came in and did some exercises with us, including one where we just jumped or bounced up and down in place repeatedly for several minutes. Arm movement was free-form. It was invigorating and relaxing. I don't know if that was yoga, per se, or some other practice, or just something she made up. But it was really useful for me. Though I can do this alone at home, I'd like to find a video or other resource that might inspire me to do it more. But my Google-fu is coming up empty. Any leads??? Just having a name would be useful. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2020 01:37 AM PDT I'm sure there is a million posts about this already but I couldn't find any. I've been practicing yoga on and off for about 5 years with online videos, but it's mostly been 5-10 minute stretching routines on YouTube. I've started Yoga With Adrienne's YOGA CAMP 30 day challenge and after the 2nd day my back started to ache so bad it took me a half hour to sit up in bed the next day. Did any other people have this kind of experience as beginners? I want to start going to classes once all this covid-19 stuff is over, but is there anything I can do to keep practicing without pain until then? [link] [comments]
