    Finished a 30 day challenge!

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:39 PM PDT

I've been wanting to complete one of YWA's monthly challenges but for various excuses, have not done so yet. The lockdown has allowed me to actually finish the 30 day calendar and I'm looking forward to doing another. I feel amazing!

Should you square the shoulders in half camel?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:25 PM PDT

I've been using the down dog app since lockdown started on beginner 1 setting. It comes up with a different set of poses each time you use the app, but half camel comes up fairly often, and I struggle with it.

One of the verbal instructions is to square the shoulders, but in the video the instructor's shoulders don't look very squared. I get the feeling that half camel is meant to be an easier modification of normal camel but I find normal camel easier as I have the support of both hands on my back feet. When I try half camel I don't feel strong enough to square the sholders with only one hand down, so it ends up feeling more like a twist, and not very stable.

Is it advisable to substitute half camel with normal camel or are there some benefits specific to half camel that I'll be missing if I don't do it?

    Beginner Yoga Person

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:07 PM PDT

So I just started to get interested in yoga and I'm wondering if I NEED a mat or blocks or all the materials people show in videos, or if I can do Yoga with just my body. Sorry that I'm not using technical terms but as I said, I'm really new. Thank you! 🙂

    Chemo Yoga Flow

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:49 PM PDT

Hey Reddit community! My mom is current a breast cancer patient going through chemo. She's experiencing some joint pain and I'm wondering if anyone has a good yin flow she could start with. I have blocks and a strap she could use.

Overall she's in good physical shape - before treatment she played tennis 3-4 times a week and she was walking 15 to 20 minutes a day until her last treatment Monday.

Question: Do you think that in order to gain a following in yoga you have to wear less clothing?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 01:35 PM PDT

Just something I think would be good to discuss, and everyone should be able to wear what they want. Just curious about people's opinions are about this subject.

Is a car necessary as a yoga instructor?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:20 AM PDT

I am trying to figure out whether I should still go through with a yoga teacher training scheduled this summer, but I do not have a car and I spent most of my savings on the training. So, I'd like to know from your experiences if a car is necessary and if it is financially worth the investment. Thank you!
