    Your journey is your own

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 11:04 AM PDT

This sub has lots of practitioners posting themselves in difficult inversions and advanced poses. If you find yourself comparing yourself, being hard on yourself, remember yoga is NOT about the physical asanas. It is a journey into self discovery through the union (yolking) of mind, body, soul. The yogi who never masters headstand is no more or less than the yogi who can bring their toes to meet their face in Sirsa Padasana. Keep showing up on and off the mat. All is coming. All is here.

    [COMP] 3rd day practicing yoga!

    Posted: 13 Apr 2020 09:52 PM PDT

Just downloaded the prenatal yoga app by DownDog because it’s free until May.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:38 PM PDT

It came across as an ad on Instagram and I'm 14 weeks pregnant so I figured I'd check it out while it was free. I usually do a lot of Yoga With Adriene on YouTube but was having to adjust some of the core poses already.

I'm pleasantly surprised! The app is easy to use, comprehensive, and gives a lot of options to specialize your routine. I know they have other Yoga options as well and I haven't looked at those but if the prenatal version is a reflection of what the other apps are like it's definitely worth checking out! I might be paying for this app at the end of my free trial to have it throughout pregnancy!

Also, just bought my 2 year old her own kids mat from Gaiam and I can't wait for it to get here. She's usually all over mine while I practice and likes to try to follow along.

I hope everyone is enjoying their practices during quarantine. Much love.

    Adrienne’s series ranked by difficulty?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 09:52 AM PDT

    Hi there

Just finished Adrienne's "30 days of yoga" I'm aware it's probably where a lot of you started also.

I notice she has many month long series playlists, and I'm wandering where to go next. Could someone rank them in order of difficulty level? I would be great full for any input. Thank you.

Day 10 of Adriene Yoga. Mid/upper back tension.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 01:24 PM PDT

    Hello

I am a 35 year old Male with a relatively decent level of fitness and I am day 10 into Adriene Home Yoga. I have also thrown in some additional sessions from her videos on some of the days.

An issue I am having at the moment is a slight ache pain in my mid upper back just below by shoulder blades. I do struggle with sitting up straight and crossed legs, does it sound like that could be causing the issue? It's not extreme pain but a bit annoying.

    Thanks in advance.

Advice for yoga blocks and mats

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:06 PM PDT

I am 15 days into 30 days of yoga, and I am loving it. But doing it on my carpet is becoming worse and worse, so I think it's time to invest in a proper mat and a block (currently I have been using Tupperware as blocks, and it's not working well)

I was wondering if anyone have any tips for a good mat, and what to look for, what thickness and such. I have sweaty hands (sorry for tmi) and was wondering if there are mats that help with that?

    Cork block or foam block?

    Thank you in advance ☺️

Funny yoga studio which just dawned on me

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:00 AM PDT

Funny yoga story time since we are all stuck in at the moment.

Since the start of the year my wife and I have been attending a yoga class twice at week at a leisure centre, this isn't our usual leisure centre though but it is linked to ours and uses the same app to book classes.

From the first time we turned up the receptionist greeted us by name and directed us to the yoga studio without us ever introducing ourselves or saying which class we were attending.

After a month of this I asked how she knew we were attending yoga class and not going to the gym or playing squash. She just pointed to the yoga mats we were carrying and I was so embarrassed.

That would have been in February. Only today did it dawn on me how she knew our names. I'm the only man in the class, so from a list of ten names it was kinda obvious which one was me.

I feel like a numpty. I only realised all this during my yin session this morning.

Hello yogis. I’ve tried posting this in r/hotyoga but it looks like everyone is here! I’d like to do hot yoga at home - can you recommend a great space heater? I e already tried the Dr. Infrared Heater and I was thoroughly disappointed. Help please?

Does anyone have a Yoloha cork mat? What do you think of it? I ordered the sample thing for $5 hoping that'll help me in deciding. TIA!

What specific yoga video would you suggest to a person that needs help to relax/wind down/calming ? She would be a novice, 60 years old (in decent shape, I’d guess).

    New to yoga

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 05:19 PM PDT

I've been doing yoga stretches like trying to reach the ground standing. But I've been feeling a stretch in the middle of my spine that feels kind of off. I don't if this is normal or if this is a sign I'm doing it wrong. Is it normal?
