Posted: 25 Apr 2020 06:56 AM PDT I've been working on Crow for a few weeks. Couldn't lift my feet at all. Held it for 12 seconds today! Past record was 7 seconds. I did it! I just had to share. Next step, headstands. [link] [comments] |
OK, this is the best feeling as a new yogi. Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:47 PM PDT The teacher tells you to do something and you think you can't do it for some reason. You don't think you can stretch that far or something. but you try anyway. and you can do it! because your yoga has gone farther than you think. it happened to me today. it wasn't anything flashy. Just i surprised myself with my leg strength and flexibility. [link] [comments] |

Increased popularity of yoga during pandemic Posted: 25 Apr 2020 06:08 AM PDT Is it only me or this whole pandemic-stuck-at-home situation has determined a lot more people to turn to practicing yoga regularly? I for one have went from 2 days per week to a daily basis. Even more so, I find that even people who have never practiced before are increasingly open to the idea of trying it out, which has made yoga quite the "cool thing" these days. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this topic. Do you think there has been a real increase in popularity or is it just the social media frenzy? And if there is a visible increase, do you think the trend will keep up after the pandemic or will everyone return to their busy, yoga-free lives? I'm really curious to hear different points of view from both new and long-time practitioners. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Apr 2020 01:14 PM PDT Sometimes while I'm in some postures for longer time, it makes me sooo nervous.. I am breathing deep and trying to relax as much as I can so my musles can relase tention. But I just can't wait to get out of the posture..(I must say that I am not rushing into a pose and pain is not big its just a tention) so its not that hard physically as much is mentally. Is this normal? [link] [comments] |
Need help with your inversions? Post here! Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:16 AM PDT Hi guys! HandstandAddict here! I've been practicing inversions for 8 years and do some handstand coaching on the side but with corona-chan running around I can't host my regular in-person classes. So as a way to get my daily fix of handstand talk (yes, I live up to my username), I'm offering to critique your wobbly crows, shaky headstands, and banana handstands for free. Just post a pic or video of your attempts (preferably from the side) and I'll get back to you soon as I have nothing better to do than browse reddit. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:47 PM PDT Which poses or exercises are best to help give the booty a lift? I don't think I can do lunges and squats because of my knees. I was hoping there's be some low impact yoga moves that I could substitute. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2020 06:37 PM PDT I might as well be super new to yoga though I've been attempting it for a very long time - maybe 2 years now. I'm trying to learn through online resources or visuals I've acquired through various gyms but I can't seem to get it. I always feel like watching a screen is counterintuitive and I feel like I'm focusing too much on my form and not enough on my breathing. I know how beneficial practicing yoga is for the mind, which is why I want to know how to do it in a way that is both correct and relieving for me, but I'm having a lot of trouble. Any recommendations for starting out other than live classes? Is learning through literature more appropriate? What would you say is most important to focus on when you are just starting out? Does the practice ever become less of a cognitive chore and more of a peaceful escape? [link] [comments] |
Struggling with Half Moon Pose Posted: 25 Apr 2020 02:24 PM PDT Hi everyone! I hope this question hasn't been asked too many times here before. But here goes: I am doing Yoga with Adriene's Yoga Camp, and last night was day 15. I have done yoga on and off before, but I have stayed committed through this challenge. I have decent balance and flexibility for being horrendously out of shape. That being said, I'm seeing progress, even did Crow for a few seconds. However, doing Half Moon yesterday almost took me out. I started using a block (a stack of block sized books) under my hand to help me achieve the pose initially, and could barely get my top leg off the ground. The only way I could lift my leg was turning my foot on the ground at a 45 degree angle. Once I had (kind of?) gotten much body into the pose, Adrienne instructed me to take my gaze off the ground and look out, forming a line through mine spine/neck. I literally fell over. Half moon has become impossible to achieve without bad foot placement and staring straight at the ground. Has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone have any tips for improving this pose? I'm sure with practice I will fix it up, and I know yoga isn't about nailing the poses. However, it would be nice to try. Thank you in advance! Stay safe everyone! [link] [comments] |
Started YogawithAdrienne 30 day challenge last night and am a little discouraged. Posted: 25 Apr 2020 06:29 AM PDT Proud I got on the mat, took me a while to get there. I'm (26f) completely new to yoga, but I didn't expect to not even be able to sit (sorry I'm sure this is certainly not the right term) Indian style. I guess I'm here for a few words of encouragement, advice, tips. For beginners. Feel free to shoot me a message if you'd like to talk more in depth, because I'd love to. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2020 05:29 PM PDT So I started doing yoga about mid March. Today I noticed during forward fold just below my inner ankle was hurting. Now my arch and just above is hurting. Does anyone know what caused this and what I need to do to remedy it??? [link] [comments] |
Books about the theory of Yoga ? Posted: 25 Apr 2020 02:42 PM PDT I'm looking for books which explains what poses do, how they work, chakras....the goal is to end up creating some flows for myself based on how I feel in the moment (angry, sad, etc..). This way it'll help me live better. [link] [comments] |
New to yoga and feeling discouraged Posted: 25 Apr 2020 01:10 PM PDT I was a longtime cyclist, but suffered a near-fatal accident that left me unable to ride, and wanted to try yoga to maintain some level of fitness. So i did the 20th yoga class of my life, and I feel totally inflexible- to the point that i cant even get close to doing some poses. I understand that it takes time to gain flexibility, but at this rate I feel like there's no light at the end of my yoga tunnel. I am committed to getting good at yoga, but would like to see SOME progress. Right now I am doing 3 days a week, an hour each week, but I am wondering if I should be doing more. Any advice or recommendations? [link] [comments] |
