| Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:15 PM PDT I just started yoga with Cassandra on YouTube five days ago, I'm doing 10 minutes in the morning and just added 10 minutes in the evening as well, for the past 2 nights. My whole body feels like the tin man and cracking everywhere. Is this normal? I try to work out regularly and I do typically skimp on the stretching, but I'm not completely sedentary. Will this stiffness and cracking go away or does this happen to everyone? [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 04 Apr 2020 01:17 PM PDT My New Year's Resolution for yoga this year was to do it every day of the year. Yesterday I hit 100 consecutive days (I started right after Christmas), and since the first quarter of the year just ended, I thought it might be nice for people to post updates on how well they're meeting their yoga goals for 2020. | Posted: 04 Apr 2020 03:00 PM PDT Hello, i have finished 30 day with Adriene and now i am doing Yoga girl classes online... i really love it and i am wondering how do u get down some of the harder poses in the future, what should my process be? Is doing classes everyday enough and it will come naturally with my flexibility, or i should focus on a pose and do stretches after classes just for that pose? Thank you very much, just a little bit confused how you get to the point of being really good in yoga and doing different poses like forward fold, one legged king pigeon... Thank you for your help :) [link] [comments] |
| I am feeling very restless and unrelaxed Posted: 04 Apr 2020 02:33 PM PDT I only started a couple of weeks ago, but I practice an hour everyday since then. To be honest I think my restlessness started at the same time of the equivalent of daylight saving times in my country which completely threw my metabolism off. I can't fall asleep anymore, I am angry when my yoga videos are lagging or glitching or whatever. I feel like I'm always on the edge. I know this quarantine is having its toll on all of us but tbh I was very much fine with it until a week or so ago. I am a big introvert so it's not a big change for me and I can still go out to walk my dog everyday. I know I'm a beginner but do you have any insight or advice? [link] [comments] |
| Is there fundamental principals of movement that I can keep in mind to help my practice? Posted: 04 Apr 2020 05:50 PM PDT I checked the FAQ didn't see anything. I know every pose is different however are there rules of movement that will help me avoid injury and do poses correctly? When in doubt, xyz. Examples that I'm making up.. Exhale on the way down. Keep your weight on your heels. I'm never know where to look or keep my head pointed in twists etc. A lot of the time I'm doing the pose wrong and I'll change something and realize that's how it's done right because it was so easy and now the pose is challenging. | Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:06 AM PDT I'm able to hold crow for about 20 seconds now. I'm not sure if this is "good enough" or not, but am wondering what could I start adding from here? I'm pretty new to yoga. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 04 Apr 2020 01:19 PM PDT I've always been mostly an Ashtanga/Vinyasa yogi, and while I feel like things like Sun Salutations are great for developing upper body and triceps strength, I feel like my biceps are lagging behind. And I don't feel like I've come across many routines that hit them well. Does anyone have any positions or sequences they do to target those muscles specifically? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 04 Apr 2020 06:13 AM PDT Shoutout to u/Caliyogagrl, u/EmsPalala, u/McIgglyTuffMuffin, u/ChloeMarie159, u/claptrapglitter, u/engineer_ellena, u/GarbagePailKid90, u/jeffbloke, u/ShadowSylph, u/electric_real for completing 10 days of the challenge u/claptrapglitter 's husband for 9 days u/MsMimosa420 for 7 days Welcome to our new member u/GraphCat for joining and completing 1 day! I know it's a lot harder to do yoga on the weekends when there's family, more stuff to be done and just feeling a bit more lazy (at least for me!). And if for whatever reason you can't do it, that's ok. There are days when we just feel off, we get busy, or life throws stuff at you and you feel like crap. Give yourself room to breathe, and try again tomorrow. Everyday is a new beginning. Tip if you are using DownDog on your phone: You can access it on your laptop by going to https://www.downdogapp.com/web and logging in. I have been squinting at my phone all this while so having a larger screen made it a lot easier on the eyes. Videos and music used by members on Day 10

| Right shoulder pain during surya namaskara Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:11 AM PDT I restarted my yoga practice after ~3 months. It involves a full body warm-up before doing 10-12 surya namaskaras (sun salutations). During the 5th position (lowering down from a plank, with hips raised), I get a sharp discomfort near my right elbow/ shoulder blade. The whole thing feels very uncomfortable and is not smooth. Tried reading/researching and the only thing I've found is that it may be a shoulder impingement and involve some balance issues. I also had a stiff neck on my right side from a different workout two months prior to this and do not know if that is a factor as well. I would appreciate any tips/advice on form for this specific position. [link] [comments] |
