    Newbie questions.

When starting Ashtanga yoga should I just do Surya Namaskara A-B then the standing sequence until I develop better flexibility for seated? Would doing what I can and doing all of primary series be better?

    Advice for drop back

    Posted: 17 May 2020 11:07 PM PDT

    Dear Ashtangis,

I've been practising the primary series for 1.5 years. Few months ago, my teacher decided that I can move on to the 2nd series. I started incorporating drop back drills (after 3 x 5 breaths of Urdhva Dhanurasana) in my practice. My back is averagely flexible, and I can drop back with assistance. However, when I practise on my own, whenever I reach my maximum bend, I chicken out and don't have the courage to drop. Recently, I also found that my right kidney feels a little strained during drop back drills. Any advice for how to build courage and back flexibility?

    Knock knees

    Posted: 17 May 2020 02:52 AM PDT

Has anyone had knock knees and were able to correct it through Ashtanga practice? I have knock knees and I'm working on correcting it. Some poses like Utthita hasta padangusthasana and ardha baddha padmottasana have always been a challenge for me because of my knock knees. Anyone here has the same condition? Any tips?
