[COMP] Haven’t been able to climb so I’ve been having fun with yoga!

    Posted: 02 May 2020 01:11 AM PDT

    It's not about the pose.

    Posted: 02 May 2020 05:00 AM PDT

Ok, maybe it is for you. Which is fine.

But I had this realization that it's about what you learn on the way. About yourself and your body.

My studio sets an intention for the month and they always get me thinking. In April, it was strength. My teacher discussed how for her, that meant "finding strength in softness." We've spent a lot of time opening up the heart space and the hips this past month. Reading passages and mantras about finding the softness in the struggle and feeling safe in your body. Especially now, during these "unprecedented times."

I've always been anxious. Maybe not in a clinical diagnosis sense but my mind doesn't stop. I used to use yoga to numb feelings but over the last 10 years I've learned to sit with them.

The point of this is I've been thinking about the stories we tell ourselves. What pose is next? I hate crescent lunge. This class doesn't have enough chaturungas. It has too many chaturungas. I've been doing this for 10 years my leg shouldn't be bent in this pose.

But it's just kinda like...who cares, you know? I used to place so much value on my appearance and my performance on the mat when in reality all the poses are is an expression of what's going on inside. Anything else is us creating our own struggle instead of just letting it be.

When you really sit with your body and appreciate everything it does for you, things get so much simpler.

    Self-guided classes

    Posted: 02 May 2020 04:56 PM PDT

Hi guys. I just wanted to say you're all really inspirational. I'm 14, and I started doing yoga between 2-3 weeks ago. I've noticed a lot of you guys don't follow yoga classes and I was wondering, how do you guys know which poses to do? Or does it just come naturally the more you do yoga?

Would like to try Yoga - tight hips.

    Posted: 02 May 2020 03:30 PM PDT

    Hi all!

I've had an interest in yoga for a while. I started going to pilates once a week and a stretch and strengthen class also once a week. But of course gyms are closed so I'd like to try at home.

I have very tight hips and they become quite uncomfortable. I also have a left clicky hip so when I do such things as scissor kicks it feels awful and when I do a move and my hip "pops" I feel a tad nauseous due to the movement.

I'm hoping yoga can do 4 things for me. Improve Posture, meditation, flexibility and help with my tight hips! :D

    Thank you all I advance!

Been doing this one for a couple of weeks, it's doing absolute wonders for my lower back. What are some similar positions that work the same areas?

    Thanks much!

    Knot in Solar Plexus

    Posted: 02 May 2020 01:15 PM PDT

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with a knot in my stomach. I had a traumatic event happen last year and ever since then, there has been a knot in my stomach. When I concentrate on it I sense shaking and want to throw up. When I have thrown up from it (honestly have tried it to see if there is an improvement in any way) I start shaking A LOT. Like an entire body tremble. It starts in my legs and works it's way up to my head. I don't think forcing this knot out is the way to go, but I don't know how to unravel it 😞

Best books on the subtle body

    Posted: 02 May 2020 07:09 PM PDT

Which books would you all recommend for learning about the sublte body or the Koshas in general? Im in my 200 hr ytt but I'm an energy worker so I already have a decent amount of knowledge but would really like to dive deeper and learn more regarding meridians, nadis, etc. Also open to any yoga books that youd recommend or wish you had when you were in ytt. Trying to become the best teacher and student I can be!

Hi everyone! I have started doing yoga for 7 weeks, and I need some advice for my progress.

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:38 AM PDT

I downloaded down dog yoga app seven weeks ago and I hadn't done any kind of sport before that. I am doing hatha and practicing almost everyday. I've done lots of hamstring and hip practices but i have problems with some poses like forward fold, head-to-knee, seated fold, etc. I can't bend my torso over my legs, not at all. What should i do to increase my flexibility and be able to do these folding poses?

Down dog app - free trial locked solutions

    Posted: 02 May 2020 09:41 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

If anyone else is getting locked out of their app today due to their free covid trial ending May 1, 2020, try this!

Make a new profile and log back into the app. Your membership will now be available until June 1, 2020.

For some reason, the free trial doesn't get automatically extended (must have something to do with account type when created), so I just deleted my profile and made a new account with an alternative email.

Also, I was locked out of using the free version of the app. I couldn't escape 🎭 payment page and opt to downgrade. Can anyone confirm that there is a free version? The last threads I saw about it were a year ago.

Post below if you have any other solutions! My strategy was a little nuclear because I didn't care about saving my preferences.

Yoga exercises for fixing bad posture ?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 03:40 AM PDT

I heard that having a bad posture can make you look shorter than you are and at this point I'm tempted to try even yoga if it's possible to add 1-2cm to my height. Thanks in advance.
