Yoga happens when you choose to heal yourself Posted: 29 May 2020 03:21 PM PDT I really want to remember these few minutes I have now. I'm experiencing amazing quantities of calm and peace and all of this because of yoga. Sometimes it doesn't really matter where I am. When I start unfolding my purple mat that has two years old. Stepping on it, feeling that spongy texture, breathing through my nose... Everything seems to go into a profound silence and I'm standing there prepared to conquer my own blood that has been boiling. Oh! And I should remember about the many, many times when I was falling, laughing at myself because at the end of all of your practices you should remind yourself that it's all about making yourself feeling better, stronger. Take care of yourself you beautiful creature! [link] [comments] |
How many folks have continued their practice at home? Posted: 29 May 2020 06:22 AM PDT Just curious. Out of those of us who keep a regular practice, how many of us are continuing to do yoga at home throughout this time? And if you are continuing to practice, are you attending classes or just doing your own thing on your mat? [link] [comments] |

Is it OK to do yoga every day as a complete beginner? Posted: 29 May 2020 04:51 AM PDT I just started doing yoga four days ago for the first time in my life. Each day I've followed a different YouTube beginner yoga video. It is challenging in a good way, and I'd like to keep doing half an hour a day. However certain parts of my body are a bit sore and I'm not sure if it's better to take a break. If so how often is necessary? I'd love to be able to do every day, but want to be good to my body. I am middle-aged, in quite good shape, and do a lot of general physical activity - walking, hiking, paddling, gym workouts with weights and aerobics. I'm pretty flexible. Also, if anyone has recommendations for certain instructors/ videos I'd be grateful to hear them. I've already done Adriene and Brett Larkin and two others, and enjoyed them all. I like the idea of trying out different instructors because I've already found they each explain things differently and sometimes hearing a pose described a few different ways is helpful. Plus I have no idea what style I'll end up wanting to do. Thanks!!! [link] [comments] |

Hugger Mugger Rug as everyday mat? Posted: 29 May 2020 03:37 PM PDT My cat has an unhealthy obsession with yoga mats, and has done away with yet another one. While I love our yoga time dearly, I can't keep replacing torn up mats! An r/yoga search brought up the option of using mysore rugs as a possible option. Has anyone used in particular either the Jade or Hugger Mugger cotton rug on either hardwood or carpet (edit: without a regular rubber/pvc mat under it) as a daily mat, for flows or yin practices? Does this idea make sense, or is it unrealistic in terms of sliding around the floor? It would be strictly for home and outdoor use. [link] [comments] |

Is Twisted Warrior III pose the exact same as Twisted Half Moon pose? Posted: 29 May 2020 11:03 AM PDT I know this sounds like a really dumb question but is Prvrtta Vrbdrasana 3 the exact same pose as Prvtta Ardha Chandrasana? thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
What are some of the astounding feelings / experiences you've had mid yoga practice? Posted: 29 May 2020 12:36 AM PDT Wheel Pose is one that surprises me every now and then. I did my yoga teacher training at the beginning of 2019, and arguably until then I wasn't really doing yoga for inner work, more so for strength and flexibility. I remember doing wheel pose for the first time during my training and I started tearing up and I was like WOA. OK.. what was that?! I've just done it again after being pretty lack in my personal practice for some weeks, I was doing a pretty gentle glow and my heart just started pounding like mad and I just lay in Savasana and breathed for a little while and I feel GOOD. Have you had any weird but amazing physical / emotional / spiritual feelings during your practice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 06:27 AM PDT Wheel pose is one that I've always struggled with. I'm able to get my legs in the right position when starting from the floor, but when I try to push my torso up, I can't. It's almost like my shoulders lock up on me. Any suggestions for things I can do differently? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 07:45 AM PDT Hey all! I (21 F) have been practicing yoga for around three months, but still cant seem to arch my back while doing shivananda suryanamaskar, the second step when you raise your arms and arch your back, and similar poses. I hope you get the gist, it would be really nice if someone could tell me how to get better at it. Also for context, I am a chubby person who has lost a little weight now, and only recently started doing sarvangasana and halasana [link] [comments] |
