Welcome to the weekly practice thread. This thread is dedicated to discussion of how our practice is going, where we would like it to go, and where it has been. Have a great week.

Favourite things to do on a day off

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 01:36 PM PDT

Hi there, just wondering what others like to do on their day off? Eg, nothing at all (complete rest), go for a walk, mild stretches, hot bath or swim?? Would appreciate hearing what others do or find helpful for recovery. Many thanks.

PS. enjoying the more frequent practices and dropping things down a notch with intensity - 100% consistency 70-80% intensity.

Marichyasana A,B,C,D - just not for me.

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 04:20 AM PDT

For some reason, I have hit a wall with the Marichyasana asanas. I don't feel like they've progressed as well for me as the other asanas in primary series have...and I now dread them (and often skip them) in my practice. I keep telling myself that progress in an asana isn't why I love Ashtanga or why it benefits me, but it doesn't seem to help me push through these postures! Has anyone else experienced this frustration with Marichyasana postures or any other postures and does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the frustration?

    Practicing on your own?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:52 AM PDT

I have been practicing for several years with daily meditation. I'd like to practice a system close to ashtanga yoga, but I'm concerned I don't have the discipline to do it on my own.

I am a white American man, and I don't want to make any other practitioners at a temple uncomfortable. I am also fairly certain that there is no teacher close that I could consult about the eight limbs of ashtanga yoga.

For those solitary yogis, do you have any advice on how to approach the ashtanga yoga discipline on your own? Are there any online resources/templates to make this easier to follow? Thanks for any help you can give me.
