Posted: 07 Jun 2020 04:29 PM PDT Pretty much what the title says. I do yoga for my anxiety, but heat, a quickened heartbeat or a few other things make me panic even though there's no reason to. I then have to rest (childs pose etc) tho I'd like to, and try to push myself. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:10 PM PDT At night, when I am trying to fall asleep and my muscles begin relaxing, my lower body begins contracting and relaxing very minutely. Not like a spasm, but a slow contraction and then it releases. I believe it is the muscles being worked from being stretched. I can't say for 100% it is a result of yoga, but it started exactly a month ago when I began exercising. I don't know what to do. It is deeply affecting my sleep. And no, I definitely don't over do it or strain my muscles. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 07:20 AM PDT I am a 20 year old romanian guy. I have started realising that I have been vegetating the most of my life i haven't lived for the moments, I have no hobbies. Now I am in the second semester of my kinetoteraphy university i liked the first semester but I am not sure if this is something I would like to do for the rest of my life.. I really want to find peace and happiness, i have seen youtube videos about people wandering to east countries to monasteries and self-supplying households to some wise life teachers and after a few months their move back home as a fuller person. I am also very interested in yoga, training of my body/spirit. My question would be if a plan like this could really work out? I am afraid about going on a trip like this but I feel like people know something there i need in my life. How do I find someone when I am there who could teach things and place where to life for some months? If anyone could share experiences I would appreciate anything. Thank you!!! [link] [comments]
How have you guys stayed motivated with your practices during quarantine? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 01:03 PM PDT Maybe this is a really stupid question and if so I apologize in advance. Basically, I started taking yoga seriously for about a year now. I loved going to yoga practice, I loved trying things out at home, I loved seeing the progress my body made too. Ever since quarantine, everything's been really hard. My personal life is exhausting, my parents drive me nuts. I have no motivation to do anything. I haven't done a practice for at least 3 months. I want to get into again, but something in my mind tells me "no, later". I know this is all in my head and im like an idiot for thinking this. I know what my problem is. I'd just like to know how so many of you are able to stay motivated and consistent in your practice. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 02:15 PM PDT I'm getting an ENTIRE ROOM in our house to turn into my yoga room but I need ideas! Will you guys share pictures of your yoga space?? Ideas for extra relaxation/storage/details? I want to see it all 😊🧘♂️❤️ [link] [comments]

Any tips on how to keep back straight when doing the lotus? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:25 PM PDT My posture is terrible it would seem; unable to keep my back straight for extended periods of time. Unfortunately, it becomes even more apparent whenever i attempt to stay in a lotus position for a prolonged period of time. I hunch over and no matter how hard I try, it would seem as if my back muscles refuse to move so that I can arch my spine. Any tips on how to counteract this? [link] [comments]

Questions about solitary practice Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:52 AM PDT I have been practicing for several years with daily meditation. I'd like to practice a system close to ashtanga yoga, but I'm concerned I don't have the discipline to do it on my own. I am a white American man, and I don't want to make any other practitioners at a temple uncomfortable. I am also fairly certain that there is no teacher close that I could consult about the eight limbs of ashtanga yoga. For those solitary yogis, do you have any advice on how to approach the ashtanga yoga discipline on your own? Are there any online resources/templates to make this easier to follow? Thanks for any help you can give me. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 01:13 AM PDT I started practicing 6 weeks ago (online only, sadly) and I have found that my libido has gone through the roof. My partner who has been practicing for years said this is normal but will it eventually go back down to normal? Anyone else struggling with this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:27 AM PDT Greetings! I had read that gyms are able to open in Denver now at reduced occupancy, and curious if anyone from this sub knows if/when any local studios will be opening back up? Not sure if I want to go right away, but it would be nice to know. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Problem with one side arm balances Posted: 07 Jun 2020 03:08 AM PDT Why are one side arm balances so hard? I can easily do bakasana, but when I try attempt with one leg up,side crow or any other variations I fail all the time.. the only one side arm balancing pose I can do is eight angle pose..is it because my arms are not strong enough? Aside from yoga I am doing strength training as well so I am not sure.. maybe doing a lot of chaturanga holds can help for arms strength? Any advice? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:33 AM PDT Namaste 🌱 What are your suggestions for being able to do headstands? I am able to do crow pose and bridge pose... but when it comes to headstands I have a hard time. I know my core is not that strong but i do not know how to make it stronger because I tried to hit the gym and focus on my core during workouts, so I would like to hear your suggestions about that too? Do you recommend me to change my eating habits (I should point out that I try to eat clean and healthy...)? [link] [comments]
Which yoga channels are you following this month for your practice? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:29 PM PDT I've started with YogiApproved.com and Alo Yoga on YouTube. After 2 months of doing Yoga With Adriene and Yoga With Tim. On somedays when I wish to challenge myself I try Cat Meffan's Vinyasa flows. I like changing up my practice every now and then. Open to any new recommendations too. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:46 PM PDT Hi! I'm a yoga teacher who has fallen out of practice due to covid and previous mental health issues that make it hard for me to stay motivated and have a routine. Since covid (early March) I have only practiced a few times, maybe 15 times? This includes a variety of vinyasa, Ashtanga and yin. My posture is so horrible right now and it's really really taking a toll on my self esteem, I hate even walking out of the house knowing my alignment and posture is off. My upper back near my neck and shoulders is always in pain. I want to get back into a yoga routine and possibly start getting massages regularly to release/relax the muscles in my neck and upper back which is the main problem for me. Have any of you had problems with posture and alignment after falling out of yoga? How do you motivate yourself to get back into practice? Even if it's not yoga, any tips will help I'm really struggling. [link] [comments]
