Welcome to Form Check Friday! Here is the link to all previous Form Check Fridays

Please post a photo or video of the stretch you'd like to be critiqued. Do include any specific questions you have about your form.

Your video or photo should be:

    • Oriented the correct way, we want to see the lines of your body
    • Be formatted such that there isn't unnecessary video of you preparing for the move (keep it short)
    • Have the important bits of the movement clearly visible (multiple angles is always useful)
    • Include the whole body

    Rules for critiquing form

    • Constructive criticism only
    • Feel free to point others to resources that address their form and/or questions if you aren't "qualified" to give them advice yourself

If your form is awesome, consider posting it in the Show Off Sunday thread!

My left legs hurts a LOT when doing a hamstring stretch, is there anything I could be doing to help?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 01:02 AM PDT

I've started to learn how to do a split. I usually follow different splits streching routines from YouTube (I try to switch them up so my muscles don't get used to a routine) When I do a hamstring stretch, either against a wall or sitting down and reaching for my toes, my left leg hurts a LOT more than my right, to the point that it's hard for me to hold in for more than approx 7 seconds. My right leg only feels like a deep stretch in comparison. (and I am a lefty if that is of any consequence to this)

Are there any excercises I should be doing to help relieve this?

Whats up with my ribs and will it go back after nursing?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 02:47 AM PDT

So when I'm on my belly on the floor trying to do back stretches or exercises or whatever, one thing that has always caused me pain by being in the way is my pelvic bone. For some reason it just sticks out so much that I can't be without some pillow under my hips, which in turn ruins the technique a bit.

After giving birth though a new problem has risen, my ribs. I have been nursing for a year now and will continue to do so, but my ribs are sticking out so much at the bottom that again, I need a pillow. It's making some exercises incredibly difficult if not impossible to perform.

I'm hoping that my ribs will eventually go back in a bit after I finish nursing, but might it also be that they won't? And what about that pelvis, is there some trick I'm not getting?

This is a gentle restorative practice to help stretch and open the body while promoting relaxation.
