Pranayama: How often can I do pranayama? |
Posted: 27 Jun 2020 11:43 AM PDT Hi everyone. I am able to sit upright and still (I think it's called god pose or something?) for an hour. I have taken up the type of pranayama where you alternate nostrils and do rhythmic in and out breathing to purify the body. Eventually I will add in the pause, and increase my time more and more, and then one day I hopefully will no longer need to block my nostrils with my fingers. As of now I do it one time per day, 10 seconds in and 30 seconds out. I do 75 repetitions. I do it once per day. At some point I actually intend to do much, much more. Maybe 5 times a day. I am uncertain of how many repetitions. I also think I am about to switch to 10 in and 40 out. Is this effective? If I pick up to where I am doing 5 times per day, how many repetitions should I do? Is this like meditation, in that there is no real limit to how much you can do it as long as you keep your awareness up? Thank you for any advice. Also, a secondary important question. I have some allergy issues.. I am hoping they go away with cleanliness of my home and diet changes and food intake reduction. But as of now they make my pranayama more difficult than it should be. In particular, for inhales, I often need to let my finger off of the other nostril or I am unable to take in enough air. I've tried a netty pot but it doesn't help, it actually makes things worse, because what happens is that wet mucus comes into the sinuses replacing what was previously there. Does anyone have any advice about this? Thank you everyone for any guidance. [link] [comments] |
Why do i feel like someone is touching me while meditating? Posted: 27 Jun 2020 11:46 AM PDT I do akash mudra while meditating at night and I feel like someone is touching my neck, shoulders and back while meditating. But there is no one around. Why does it happen? [link] [comments] |
