    Crow

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 06:20 PM PDT

After 21 years of sporadic yoga practice, I finally trusted myself to lift BOTH feet off the floor tonight. And I did it! Briefly, but a few times. I'm so proud of myself, and I just had to share with people who would understand! 😁😁

    Thanks for listening! šŸ™ 🧘‍♂️

Sometimes when I’m doing yoga I notice that my nasal cavity starts to burn with a slight chemical smell (almost like when you get water up your nose at the pool). Does anyone else have this happen or know why this happens?

Best apps for yoga and pilates?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 02:51 PM PDT

Hey guys - just wondering what apps/youtube channels are best value for money when it comes to yoga and pilates; which ones are most cost-effective and which ones provide the most content/courses?

I'm asking this because from yoga I want better clarity of mind and flexibility is a fun bonus too. I don't know what I want from pilates as I've never tried it but it looks like it'll hurt/be kinda fun (?)

I guess If im asking about pilates I might as well just try blogilates out or something idk

Do any of these apps include a student discount? If so that would be great!!!

Unknown Mudra Appeared In A Dream?

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 06:01 PM PDT

    Greetings friends,

I am a Mender - one who aids their local community in all things spiritual, regardless of the religions of those that ask for our aid. One of the things I do for people, is dream interpretation. I have recently actually been doing yoga myself although I'm very new. One who came to me asking for a dream interpretation described something I recognized to definitely be a mudra, though one that I'm entirely unfamiliar with that seems similar to the surya mudra.

There seemed to be some negative things in her dream, and a positive figure in this dream appeared to her in a mirror and told her to do this mudra:

All the fingers were raised including the thumbs, with the exception of the ring fingers which were down and touching. In fact, the ring fingers were the only fingers that touched. Then, interestingly she was told to trace her cheekbone. This actually caused her to wake from the dream.

I started sifting through different mudras I was familiar with, and the meanings of the fingers, and while I could not find a mudra that matched this dream mudra, I did take note that the element earth is being used here as the ring finger represents earth. I took this mudra to be some sort of strange grounding, a mudra intended to ground one back to reality, as it made her wake up after doing it (I think the touching of the face was to further cause wakefulness, though not actually part of the mudra itself). I'm not sure if my interpretation is correct, and so I have turned to the yoga community:

Do you know this mudra? Or is it one unique to this persons dream?

    Thank you for your time.

I need help with what I should charge.

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 01:55 PM PDT

Hello fellow yogis! I was recently offered a position to teach yoga to a Varisty and JV high school soccer team during preseason and beyond. This is my first gig as a yoga teacher working for a school, so I would love some advice! Beginning in August, they are considering 1-2 classes a week offered to a program of nearly 60 soccer players.

I am thinking I will want to charge "per class" rather than "per player" or "per hour" so that way if 1 person shows up I still get paid. Quite honestly, the town is made of money and I am being paid by the school's Booster org. I currently teach backyard distanced yoga classes that are donation based. When I WAS working in a studio, I was paid on a sliding scale (# of students in the class).

So just with my experience, I really don't know what a fair price or cost would be to charge for these classes. They will be 60min flows with restorative every other class.

Thank you to any and all suggestions! Namaste <3

Is there any good plus sized yoga channels on youtube? Also, does anyone know if there is a plus size yoga class in the Indianapolis area?

Stretching to work towards cow face pose help.

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 05:04 PM PDT

I hope you're all well and safe. During this time of lockdown I have been really deepening my practice. I'm really.going back to basics. I have never been able to get my hands close for cow face pose. I was wondering if peeps have some good idea for some pre poses I could work with to get me closer and maybe even one day reach my hands together. I'm quite broad shouldered and barrel chested with I guess short arms. Thanks in advance, namiste

[COMP] My first headstand (on the wall)!

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 04:40 AM PDT

I finally got up on the wall and it felt amazing! Getting back down again was scary though haha

I do feel like I had good control/strength with my shoulders that my head was just touching the floor.

Not sure how I should progress from here, but I need to work on getting up and down smoothly for sure...

    Thumbs won't flatten

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 09:19 AM PDT

When I do downward dog or plank I try to press through my knuckles, but I am finding it really hard in general. The instructors often say to put our weight mostly in our thumb and index finger area, but I find that this area is actually the weakest for me and I can't straighten my thumb out at all! It tries to bend up and come in towards the rest of my fingers, so basically none of my weight goes into my thumbs. I try so hard to force it flat, but I can't keep it that way. I'm at the point where my entire yoga practice is focused on my thumb and trying to grip through my fingers and I'm completely distracted. Any tips? Should I just not worry about it?
