Flexibility: I used quarantine to achieve my front splits. I’m flat & squared on the ground but struggling to get true splits in aerial hoop now that my studio has reopened. This is the best I can do in the air. Any tips for improving splits off ground?

What are some good Stretches or Exercises for Balancing out UpperBody

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:39 AM PDT

Hello everyone. My UpperBody seems to be misaligned and its frustrating because I it looks really weird. What I mean is that the right side of my UpperBody seems to be more forwarded than my left. Whether I stand or lay down on my back it's obvious that one side is leaning forward more. It think this is mainly because I'm right handed. I was wondering if theres any tip on balancing out my upperbody and making it even, so when i take off my shirt, there won't a weird slant when looking from the side.
    Thank you in advance.

What muscle, on the back of the leg under the glutes, is being used in this stretch? Woke up one day and that muscle was locked up (but only while stretching, not impacting daily life) and it hasn’t gone back to normal in about 2 months.

Beginner - Sternum hurts after stretching. Cause?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 12:16 PM PDT

Hi Guys. Just started to take my flexibility more serious. Never done any gymnastics or high intensity sports. For the past couple of weeks I have been doing 30 minute stretches every day mainly focusing on my hamstrings and my back (I have a job where I sit down a lot, so the stretching has had a really positive effect on my back).

After my stretches I sometimes experience discomfort in my sternum. It's like something is pressing down on my chest. Any Idea what causes this or what I could do to prevent this from happening? Never had this problem before. Would love to know what I'm doing wrong.

    Tightest hips in the universe??

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:49 AM PDT

Hi, I've been trying to improve my flexibility nearly daily for about 3 months. I always make sure I'm nice and warmed up before stretching, and I'm seeing improvement in other areas (especially my back!), but I've made virtually no progress on my hips. Maybe I just have naturally narrow and tight hips, but I feel like even 'beginner' routines are too out-of-reach for me. When I sit on the ground with my legs extended out, I can't even open them to a 90° angle, let alone work on bending forward. Lots of 'beginner' videos use happy baby or half stirrup, but when I'm lying on my back, I can't even reach my foot, so trying to pull my entire leg down to the ground feels like overdoing it. Where can I start in order to 'free up' my hips so I can participate in more stretches?

Help with scheduling the front splits and mid splits

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:32 AM PDT

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask but I'm willing to take my chances, so pls delete it not the right subreddit. Along with strength training I've been getting into flexibility too, but due to my schedule I can only alot so much time for it. My goals are to achieve the front and the side split at the moment. I'm looking for advice, what's the best way to go about it? Should I aim to achieve one first and then the other (like the front splits then once I got that I aim for the side splits) Or should I train for them at the same time(within the same session) Or alternating on days (like today I'll do front splits then tomorrow I'll do side splits)?
