Sleep on the floor for great flexibility...

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 08:03 PM PDT

I've slept on a hard floor on a rug for about a week and any previous lower back or hamstring soreness I experienced after a night of sleep on a soft bed have vanished. I run daily, stretch daily and do breathing excercises. Sleeping on the hard floor has been a beyond game changer. I feel more flexible and nimble than ever. It's relevant to this stretching forum because I have zero of the tightness in my body like I did before, so it's altering my approach.

I've discovered it's a whole thing... just youtube it and there are some solid testimonials if interested.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 03:04 AM PDT

Whenever i try to do a backbend, i can get around two feet off the ground and then i just fall the rest of the way. Sometimes i manage to fall on my hands, but the rest of the time im not so lucky. How can i prevent from falling during those last two feet?

Trying to get better low bar squat grip

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 03:56 PM PDT

I'm not sure if there is a wiki for beginners but I have horrible shoulder/arm/chest flexibility and its gotten to the point after COVID that I can no longer squat with a barbell in the low bar position.

I am looking for a daily routine that I can do to permanently gain the flexibility I need to get back into the proper position and be able to bring my hands close to my shoulders when there. Let me know if you need a picture or two of what I am aiming for.

Question about knee pain that travels to stomach...

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:35 PM PDT

Curious if anyone can shed some light on my knee pain that can be felt inside my stomach.

The pain is most noticeably felt when doing the Lunging Hip Flexor Stretch or when sitting upright, putting my right foot on my left knee and applying pressure to my right knee. I feel it right where my MCL should be, and in the right side of my stomach. I find it oddly weird that the pain travels up to my RUQ, although I do have gastrointestinal issues.

I'm an avid runner, and have been trying to up my stretching game. I also suffer from lower back tightness. Is it possible I might of overdone the hip flexor stretches ? Looking for any advice or similar experiences. TIA

Where do I begin? Starting from extremely inflexible.

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 10:02 AM PDT

Hello all! I want to start stretching to gain more mobility but I am overwhelmed with where to start. The link for the Starting to Stretch in the pinned comment is broken. I want to event build up to more time but am looking to start with just 10 minutes a day to create a habit.

I run 5 days a week (24 miles a week), lift 3 days (only 30 min, Push-Pull-Legs rotation), and usually bike once a week for about 10 miles. I do not stretch or warmup before any of these activities and I know that is not good for me. I am 29 (F) and turn 30 in a couple months. I have been told your body starts to break down at 30 (mostly told this jokingly but there is truth to this in getting older in general). I don't want to keep being inflexible.

My current state is I cannot sit on the floor with my back flush against the wall and my legs straight out in front of me without it hurting. I am THAT inflexible.

    Suggestions on where to start?

    Lying hamstring stretch form

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 09:50 AM PDT

Is there any particular difference between keeping the bottom leg flat on the ground versus bent around 90 degrees?

This is the stretch where you lay flat and lift one straight leg up with a band. I can try to find some pictures if I'm not describing it well enough.
