Yoga: [COMP] Yoga is for every BODY! A month ago I posted my crow and wrote in the comments that my next goal was headstand. I’m finally at a point where I’m proud enough to share. So much work. My body is mine to control and I love proving to myself that yes, I CAN do it!

Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be. - B.K.S Iyengar

    Length of Yoga sessions?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 11:00 AM PDT

First off; I know something similar has probably been asked before and I have searched for answers online and here but haven't come across any answers that do answer my question completely yet, still; sorry if it's been asked recently!

So I've been doing Yoga for almost half a year now. I've seen amazing improvements but I want to dive in deeper. I've been doing half an hour daily and want to do at least an hour (maybe more in the future) from now on.

Basically, is there any advantage to doing a long session instead of two half hour sessions or the other way around?

And yes, I know that I should listen to my body and see whats good for it, but what I mean is; do I have advantages with either - for instance will my flexibility improve more or faster if I do longer sessions, will the rest I give my body inbetween two sessions be generally healthier, stuff like that. Kind of the pro and cons of both.

Anecdotal advice is also appreciated, like what's your routine, if you've tried both what made you stick with one over the other?

    Any input is appreciated!

    Thanks!

Do yoga instructors do other types of exercise? I.e can you can a bod like that with pure yoga

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 12:29 AM PDT

I never feel like I get a proper workout from yoga, but yoga Instructors all seem to have the best bodies (eg. Cat Megan, Aditi Sha, Anna Greenberg etc).

Do you reckon they're doing other types of exercise on the side or can you achieve this flat stomach and slightly big booty with simple yoga?

Does an hr straight of power yoga vs 30 min in the morning and 30 min at night make a difference?

An hour is hard to fit so I tend to break it into two session. For toning and strength, does it make a difference?

    Frustrating interruptions in practice

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:50 PM PDT

Does anyone else get frustrated over interruptions over not finishing practice or is it just me? Family pets general noise lack of motivation to continue once interrupted.

But surely doing some yoga is better than none?

Need advice- bad posture, possible femoral anteversion

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 09:29 PM PDT

Hi everyone, I would like some advice on where and how to begin working on my horrible posture. Nerd neck almost disappearing into my body, rounded shoulders, ZERO flexibility. I sit on my computer and work about 12-16 hours a day and when I'm sitting elsewhere, I'm involuntarily sitting in a W position. I have trouble sitting in the usual lotus pose and feel my hip and thigh joint straining. I can barely sit that way for over five minutes. I used to play a lot of sports when I was younger and had some major accidents that messed up my back and ankles but my backs completely recovered now. My ankle still acts up sometimes. I've had people tell me that sometimes my left foot is a bit crooked while walking. I've always walked with my toes a bit inward but none of my family members thought it was weird because my aunt also sat in the same way all her life and they just thought it was something that passed onto me. I've started walking around much more and getting some exercise, but I really need some advice about the stuff that I mentioned above. I just moved to a new country and I'll need to get registered with a general physician which might take some time, but if there's something I can do by myself, I'll do it for sure. Thank you so much for your time!
