The carpet I was practicing on was causing me wrist pain, so I made a DIY lifeboard to make things easier.

COMP - a little weekend getaway flow. Wasn't sure what it would be like practicing on my own, I'm so used to relying on instructions, but looking around I couldn't help but be inspired.

[COMP] Unfortunately my feet are out of frame, but after months and months of working I was finally able to hold a handstand! Tips & notes are welcome! My goal this year is a 25 second hold.

    Bikram belly ache

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:58 PM PDT

I just started practicing Bikram. I was told I may feel sick the next day, and that my belly aches are normal after class. I just wonder, how long will this go on? Unlikely my diet will change drastically , I am well hydrated.

Emotionally/energetically sensitive after yoga... sometimes manifests as irritability

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 11:25 AM PDT

Hi! So I love the grounded, present, in-my-body feeling I get from practicing yoga. But afterwards, while I'm still in that headspace, I find I need to be alone for a while otherwise I can be very sensitive to other people's energy. And it can manifest with me being irritable toward others even though I feel good..?

Mostly I notice this with my partner. After any spiritual practice but especially yoga, I get irritated when she asks questions that feel like small talk. Or when she starts complaining about work (happens a lot). I would think that being grounded from yoga would help me be more empathetic and open, but I end up getting extra annoyed with her instead. Its like I start feeling extra spiritual and connected with a higher purpose but then everyday matters drag me down and feel "beneath" me? I feel pompous saying that. But thats how it feels.

Anyone else deal with this? Any tips for managing it? Thanks in advance <3

When a yoga coach says "Breath into your hips" "Breath into that space" ... ?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 11:01 AM PDT

I have been practicing Yoga since the start of the lockdown in March. I've become really strong and can do the Flying Crow Pose for 5 seconds before falling. I think that's pretty neat.

However, there are some things the coaches say that confuse me. I often hear yoga coaches telling me to breath into places of my body during some of these poses. I am not sure what that means and how to even control where my breathe goes.

I thought that when I breath in, the air goes into my lungs and that's it. So when a coach say "Breath into your lower spin" or "Breath into your hips". I am puzzled as to how this is done. And then the coach will sometimes lift this area up a bit. I don't feel air going down to my spine.

    So confused.

    Anyone have any clarity?

Should I still attend my Bali Yoga training this year?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 06:02 AM PDT

Hi guys! So as many of you can probably relate I started planning a yoga teacher training about a year ago (always have to plan in advance) and I was hoping to do my training in Bali through yoga union, but now with this pandemic I'm not sure if I should still go. I don't want to do my training in the states as I would love to receive a more cultural experience from it. The training won't be until December but even then theres no telling where the state of our world could be in. I'm hesitant on what to do becuase I've been planning this over over a year and I can't seem to find a community or others with the same concern. Just hoping to have a discussion about this with other yogis who might be in the same boat!

    Hobbie ideas lots of downtime

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 07:05 AM PDT

I am searching for a new hobby or something new to try or do. I enjoy yoga and meditation along with working out daily. I play some video games. I cook for my family and bake. I was getting into writing but fell out because of a lack of interest. So anyone please be kind and throw some ideas. Remember covid is still on the rise where I am at along with the fires. I really want to get into an MMA gym and take self-defense classes along with learning how to properly punch a bag and so on.

Spine seems to be in a similar bent position so it would seem like they would have similar effects.

    Yoga teaching methods?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 11:54 PM PDT

This one is to all yoga teachers here, I love to hear how others do it.

Wondering about how you plan your yoga classes? Do you have a set of classes that you repeat? Do you teach something else every time? How often would you recycle a sequence?

Do you write your classes down? Draw them? Do it digitally, or memorize them in your head? Do you ever improvise or always plan ahead? What do you use for inspiration?

Surely we need to design the class based on the students' needs/levels but just in general, what is your go to method? Do you base your classes on themes or you ask your students what they want next? Etc

Would love to hear from ya'll!

    Bad posture!!

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 10:10 PM PDT

I am 16years old and facing a no school time due to pandemic.

I am attending online classes for almost 3 months or so...

It is something I don't like because I have to sit in front of a screen from 6am(I have tution at this hour) , then at 9 till 3pm!!

Now , I have been missing some classes which are not important to me( it's just theory)

But my problem I want to share is that my sitting posture is disturbed like hell!!

I can't sit straight without any back support so, can someone suggest some Yoga asanas to cure it.

It will be a big help
