    Namaskaram,

Let us first understand that when and how much we should practice yoga mudras.

So basically, yoga Mudra is practiced on an empty stomach or after 3-4 hours of taking meals.

If you do the practice of mudra on an empty stomach, it is very beneficial.

Mudras can be practiced once or a couple of times in 24 hours, and according to research, its minimum time should be 15–20 minutes. We can extend that time to 1 hour also.

    So now Answering the question.

Which mudras can I do while sitting in Vajrasana?

First, let us know what Vajrasana is.

Vajrasana is believed to stimulate the Vajra Nadi, part of the network of pathways through which prana travels in the body. The vajra nadi helps to facilitate digestion.

Vajrasana is, therefore, one of the best postures for increasing Agni (digestive fire).

Usually, you can practice any mudra in Vajrasana. (There is no problem in that)

    But,
To be more precise, the answer to this question varies because of two different conditions.

    Case I:
If you are performing Vajrasana usually while practicing your yoga routine (i.e., Practising it on an empty stomach)

Then you can perform any yoga mudra along with Vajrasana.

I will instead suggest try to perform those yoga mudras that can help to solve your problems.

If you are performing Vajrasana for gaining one of the benefits of Vajrasana such as:

    • helping keep the mind calm and stable
    • curing digestive acidity and gas formation
    • helping to relieve knee pain
    • strengthening thigh muscles
    • helping to relieve back pain
    • strengthening sexual organs
    • assisting in the treatment of urinary problems
    • increasing blood circulation to the lower abdominal region
    • helping to reduce obesity
    • helping reduce menstrual cramps
    • etc

(Let's take an example if you are practicing Vajrasana for curing digestive fire)

Then it would be best if you practice such mudras that will act as a helping hand for increasing digestive fire.

So you can practice mudras such as:

    • Pushan mudra
    • Surya mudra, etc

If you are fit and fine, Gyan Mudra is well suitable and best for everyone.

    Case II:
If you are performing Vajrasana after having your meal (Done by most of the people for better absorption of nutrients and good digestion)

Then it is best to perform Gyan mudra. Also, you can perform those mudras, which will help to boost digestion.

But try to avoid those mudras which disturb Vata and Kapha dosha because it is not suitable for digestion.

Again I will say if you are fit and fine, Gyan Mudra is well suitable and best for everyone.
