| I think my daily practice of meditation is curing my social anxiety, is this possible? Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:22 PM PDT I went on a official visit today and had to meet so many new people, stay with the players and meet them and also have dinner with coaches and players I didn't know. This was the first real social event I have been in since my month of meditating. But anyways a situation like this normally I would be so awkward and tensing up and bombarding my head with negative thoughts of how they thought about me. But I was so calm and just effortlessly going through the day and meeting these people and basically just not giving a fuck(sorry for my language) but I just feel weird saying mediation could just cure something severe like this, what do you guys think? | Don’t shy away from the experience of living life. Yes it is “too much”, that is the beauty. Posted: 15 Sep 2020 05:01 PM PDT We are so quick to numb ourselves to our feelings. To deny, to shy away, to project, to distract. So many of us are terrified to open that Pandora's box labeled "feelings". For fear that the tidal wave that pours forth shall drown us. We try to be masters of our feelings and thoughts, control and shove down that which we find unacceptable. It's ok to let go. Yes you will drown. Yes life IS too much. Yes you will hurt, and cry, and laugh. You are enough to experience all of it, and you always have been. Have the courage to touch the old wounds. For we are all wounded. Meditation is not about disconnection but about connection, it is about allowing it all to be without judgment. We were all once innocent babes, crying out for touch, and food, and connection. Nothing has changed. The world has simply buried you under layers of conditioning and judgment. Unwrap yourself and allow yourself to feel. [link] [comments] |
| Is there a form of meditation for heartbreak? Posted: 15 Sep 2020 08:07 PM PDT This guy I was with for over two years dumped me this last weekend and it was rough. I know he's with another girl and just the whole thing is painful. But I'm moving past it now, there's just a lingering pain throughout my body. I was wondering if there is a form of meditation for these things, to release stress and anxiety. Any tips? I would really appreciate it. [link] [comments] |

| Some daily affirmations I've found helpful Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:49 AM PDT Wanted to share some daily affirmations I've found helpful, that I try to practice morning and night. After 2-3 mins of focusing on my breath and calming my mind, I say the following: 1. I am the ocean, not the waves. 2. I am the lake, not the ripples. 3. I am the presence, not the mind. 4. I am the consciousness, not the life situation. 5. I am the observer, not the objects 6. I am the awareness, not the thoughts. 7. I accept my life, as is, in this moment, I don't have any resistance to anything or anyone. After each affirmation, I pause, to truly feel/absorb what I have said. This can be accompanied by a breath or not (whatever feels natural). I either do these before, after or in place of daily meditation. It's quick and helps me keep perspective. Hope it helps! | AskReddit: Why did you start meditating? Posted: 15 Sep 2020 06:36 PM PDT Hi All, I'm doing a bit of a research project on meditation and I'm curious what the most common reason is for people start to meditating. I'll start - TLDR: I was working in a job I hated, traveling frequently for work, lonely, no significant other, painfully awkward at work and socially. Meditation felt like the only thing that could address all of the above. How about you? Why did you start meditating? What specifically was going on in your life that made it seem like the right thing for you to do? [link] [comments] |

| Everytime I try to Meditate, I hear Music. Posted: 15 Sep 2020 06:16 PM PDT I've been trying to meditate and do what's called watching my thoughts and I've realized something. Everytime I try to meditate, I hear my favorite songs playing in my head. I'll be sitting outside trying to look at my thoughts and connect with my higher self and then all of a sudden my brain will start playing Juice WRLD, Modern Baseball, etc. So I can't see my thoughts all I can do is hear my brains memory of music. What does this say about me? Is there something I should do to make meditation more effective? [link] [comments] |
| Crying from meditation //TW::SA Posted: 15 Sep 2020 08:27 PM PDT (Trigger warning) I recently just finished a metta meditation where I attempted loving and kindness mediation toward my best friends, the gas station clerk and finally my rapist. It was so hard to visualize and direct that energy to him. I found myself tearing up. I do feel fine after though just contemplative. I'm wondering if I truly want to direct these feelings to him. However I find myself scared to let go of those feelings of hatred. I'm morally conflicted if forgiveness is something I should truly strive for.... If a person like that deserves happiness. I'd appreciate any guidance [link] [comments] |
| My recent meditation experience Posted: 15 Sep 2020 04:47 PM PDT So I've been meditating off and on for about a year. I've recently been getting stronger with my practice in the last few months and try to meditate between 10-15 minutes a day. Once I started to meditate on a regular basis I have really started to feel the positive effects (less reactivity, decrease anxiety, greater acceptance, and many more). Today's meditation was quite strange to say the least. I was listening to a release anxiety guided meditation on the calm app and I was really beginning to enter into a deep meditative state. I was told to focus on parts of the body where I hold my anxiety (for me it is the heart/chest space as it gets very tight in anxiety driven states). As I deconstruct the sensations in my chest I could feel something spreading from my chest and wrapping around my body like tentacles as if giving me a soothing and graceful hug. I can only imagine this is my mind becoming to accept my anxiety? For an hour or so after my meditation I felt an extreme amount of gratitude and love for family and life. Has anyone experienced something similar? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 16 Sep 2020 03:17 AM PDT I find this method easier than running a methodological scanning in Vipassana meditation (I'm 6 months in and my attention is stable). Is there a name for such a technique and would you say it's a good one? btw, I know of at least 1 other sub member who practices this method (just from reading in the sub). [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 15 Sep 2020 06:43 AM PDT For those who struggle Keeping their back straight while meditating . So use a pillow , small or big doesn't matter but make sure it's not hard and put that pillow under your butt . Not completely but slightly underneath the back . This will maintain your posture without relying on a wall . Bye bye [link] [comments] |

| Is it normal for legs to go completely numb? Posted: 15 Sep 2020 11:43 AM PDT So as I increased my meditation time, now 1h, my legs started to get increasingly numb by the end of the session. Now my legs get completely numb when I finish meditating, to the point I can't feel or use them at all for several minutes. Is this normal and acceptable? A friend of mine which is an experienced meditator said it was normal, but it doesn't seem healthy. I looked for some old posts in this sub but each person said a different thing. [link] [comments] |
| Lucid Dreaming / Astral Projection Coaching? Posted: 15 Sep 2020 07:27 PM PDT Hello everybody, I am a seasoned practitioner of lucid dreaming and astral projection with 15+ years of experience. Last year I started my youtube channel " The State Of Consciousness, now with almost 2000 subscribers. Within the 1 year time that I have come out of the shadows, I have been made an editor and publisher for 2 very respectable pages, Lucidity4all and The Lucid Hive. All my life all I have wanted to do was teach others how to achieve this wonderful altered state of consciousness. I have tried and failed, over and over again to do so! Not because I can't teach, Because people just don't care and they certainly don't want to spend money or trust sone stranger with no reputation haha. I used to sound crazy attempting to telling people that they can experience anything bound only by their own imagination! Well Due to me finally having platforms and putting in a tremendous effort to shake the lucid dreaming communities with groundbreaking content I have been finding students and am looking for more. I know, I know, you likely don't want to spend money, well if you want to go at it alone I have a staggering amount of free content all across my platforms, tips tricks, techniques, and more! If you are interested in 1 on 1 coaching, however, it will take a lot of time energy, and effort from both me and you and that can not be free, my fee is 100$ for 8 hours of 1 on 1 time, more then enough time to get you on track, we would scatter it out over 1-2 weeks. If you are interested hit me back for a free consultation, I don't just take anyone aboard, I need to be confident that I can indeed teach you. Some people simply have a very hard time learning do to certain unique situations. Whether you decide you want to go at the practice alone or want an experienced practitioner by your side I look forward to hearing back from you. ✌️ 🌓 Lucid Dreaming Tip - There is no one best lucid dreaming technique, all practitioners are uniquely different. What works best for me might be your kryptonite! Seek knowledge, learn knowledge, and use knowledge. You want to try a wide variety of techniques, If something is not working for you put it on the back burner and try something else. This whole practice, take so much time, patience, persistence, dedication, discipline, willpower, and a ton of TRIAL and ERROR! Don't give up! The path to many many lucid dreams requires finding your own unique and creative way of achieving lucidity. You can use many different variations of many different techniques, there is a seemingly endless amount of ways to achieve Lucidity. Find your BEST, don't Google or YouTube things like the best lucid dreaming techniques or how to lucid dream the easy way, there is NO such thing! | Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:35 PM PDT When I've been trying to focus, I did this thing where I became really tense and my brow frowned and I tightened up my chest and stopped breathing. I don't think I understand what it means to focus. What am I doing wrong? [link] [comments] |
| Meditation Advice Post-Car Accident Posted: 16 Sep 2020 01:05 AM PDT About a month ago, I got into a car accident. I was in the passenger seat when we rear-ended the car in front of us which had come to a halt from colliding with the car in front of it - all on the freeway. It was my second freeway accident - the first being over five years ago where I also experienced whiplash. I've done meditation before but I just recently started practicing more regularly after coming across this community a few days ago. So far I've done a mix of vipassana and metta. In the midst of the pandemic and job struggles, I've been experiencing higher levels of anxiety so it's been helpful to reach a state of calm before bed and in the morning. I've also begun to notice what parts of my body are aching as I breathe. It seems to fluctuate between breaths and meditations. My shoulders continue to be tense (my guess is from the whiplash of both accidents - my neck has never been the same since the first even though I regained flexibility from doing PT) and I occasionally feel pain in different parts of my upper/lower back. And though I've managed to get behind the wheel since the accident, I've noticed that the pain in my shoulders is more prominent when I'm in a car, especially as a passenger. TLDR: I'm wondering if folks here have any suggestions on things to do during my meditation practice to help me this slow healing process post-accident both the physical pain but also the anxiety/muscle clenching I experience when I'm in a car? | Experiencing physical pain during a meditation Posted: 16 Sep 2020 12:48 AM PDT Hi all, I want to share and ask for advice in a thing that has been happening to me recently during a meditation. I have been exploring a meditation that the instruction given is to close my eyes and focus my attention in between my eyes at the middle. Anytime I try this I'm struck by a huge pain and pulsations in my forehead. This is really painful and almost causes me a migraine. What I am trying to understand here is if either I am doing anything wrong or is this a normal feeling and how I should deal with this. Is it okay to continue and accept the pain or is this a bad side effect? Or is just that I'm not ready for this meditation? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
| 元辰宮 where your subconscious resides Posted: 16 Sep 2020 12:41 AM PDT Has anyone heard of the saying "the secret garden where your subconscious resides"? I've been trying to find more information on this, but I think I might have the name incorrect. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
| First real meditation experience Posted: 15 Sep 2020 07:33 PM PDT Bear with me here as a I am a beginner, but I am so astonished at the experience I had last night. I'm not a very devoted meditator, but for some reason now after last night I praise it. My first set of meditation was with the fan on. It's a very loud 3 speed fan and I intentionally kept it on to challenge myself to focus only on my breath. This is where it gets weird. I really don't remember how much time had passed but I completely lost sense of time and my brain completely shut out any sensations on my body. All that I really felt and thought of was my breath and I felt like I was in a trance that I didn't want to break. I completely drowned out the noise of the fan and any other noise in the room. Fast forward after I take a shower, I go in for another meditative session. This time, my brain cannot stop having these super vivid visuals of everything going on in my day, everything that's happening, it's like all the thoughts I should've had in my first session were just absolutely launched into this session (eventually I moved past all of these crazy thoughts and visions.) I also can't remember if I ended up just falling asleep during this second experience, but I woke up pretty much sitting up. Are these normal experiences? I just wanted to share because the first session gave me such a weird sense of happiness and peace like I was just nothing but a breath, no worries no thoughts just a single breath.
