Instead of watching TV until I fell asleep I meditated for 2 hours last night. Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:34 AM PDT I sat cross-legged with my back supported by some pillows. Spine was not super straight but comfortable enough. Turned the bed lamp on. Table fan on low. And turned on the timer for 60 minutes. Started meditating. Just observing all the thoughts without judgement. The timer beeped after a long, long time. By then I felt energized so I wanted to challenge myself. With my eyes closed I reset the timer for another 60 minutes. Throughout the whole time I may have adjusted my knees 7-8 times, scratched my nose/chin/ears 5-6 times, but I kept my eyes closed. What seemed like the last half hour was especially hard but I managed to do it. I have ADHDi, anxiety and depression. It's unlikely that I'll be able to repeat this anytime soon, but I'm happy I did it yesterday. TLDR: Guy with ADHDi, anxiety and depression, not a regular meditator, skipped watching TV and meditated for 2 hours before going to bed for the first time in his life. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2020 06:52 PM PDT Hey guys. I had some trouble sleeping last night since I was absolutely barraged with all the thoughts going around in my head. In that weird state, I thought "Hey, what if I had a quiet room inside my head. Then I could just keep the damn door closed, get some peace and quiet and I would fall asleep right away." So I did. Lo and behold, I fell asleep way more quicker than I usually do. It worked quite well and I just had to write it down and share it with you, in case it helps you as well. ----- The Quiet Room Technique Imagine you are sitting inside your mind in a glass room with a glass door. Inside the room is nice and quiet. Outside the room you can see all your thoughts. The thoughts have shapes and colors according to their mood. You can imagine your thoughts however you want. I imagined my anxious thoughts as yellow shout bubbles, depressive thoughts as blurry rainy clouds, just average thoughts as balls of light. The thoughts are just floating around, waiting. You have many thoughts, but they can't get in unless you let them. In this room you may still hear the thoughts, but they are away and muffled. If you want, you can open the door and let in whichever thought you choose. Only then you can hear it clearly. No thought can get in unless you open the door and let it in. If you want to have some quiet time, just sit back and relax. Watch the thoughts float around like fish in a tank. Take it easy and let them be. Nothing can get in unless you let them in. Relax. Be inside the quiet room as long as you want. ----- That's all there is to it. If you are an anxious ball of frustration like me, it might bring you some relief like it did to me! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 12:38 AM PDT Hey everyone, I've been meditating on and off for quite a while now. I can't really explain this so well, but past few meditation sessions I did, I always kinda dive really really deep into myself. I've never experienced this before, this feeling of joy and positivity just surrounds me. I feel as if some kind of aura keeps flowing trough my body. It's bizzare. I end up crying at the end. Don't get me wrong, I love this and I will keep exploring it. I'm thinking it could be because I took LSD 2 weeks ago, and that experience changed my life. I honestly just have no explanation for it, so If any of you experts can tell me what is going on I'd really appreciate it :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:51 PM PDT Hello everyone. Just curious if anyone else can relate. Whenever I use my singing bowl, whenever I stop, maybe a minute after I will start to faintly hear the hz tone either in my head or what seems like somewhere around me. Its almost as if the tone is still ringing in my head even after it's stopped completely. [link] [comments]
Who would be interested in testing a new method of meditation? (app in development) Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:36 AM PDT We are a group of developers who are working on a new app for meditation. We need 500 people to test and give feedback to us and help us improve the application. The one's who takes place in testing will be given 1 year of free premium for all features. Does it sounds good? We need your help! Thanks everybody 🙏🏻 [link] [comments]
| Posted: 23 Sep 2020 12:38 PM PDT I sprained the tip of my finger. When I use it, it hurts so I have very naturally understood not to use it. I'm not using it, the pain does not arise. It is so interesting that physical pain gets absorbed and released, but when it comes to mental anguish I have such a tendency to just want to push it away with effort, which obviously is the fuel of persistence. Effort is persistence it seems, and persistence is the last thing a mental anguished brain should want to hold onto. So interesting. It is exciting to get to understand that contradictory relationship. After all, it is the same body/brain which absorbs physical pain which resists the natural absorption of mental pain. | Posted: 24 Sep 2020 12:52 AM PDT Some days I'll spend up to 45 minutes walking circles around my counter, usually playing out different made up scenarios in my head and just being effortlessly lost in thought. Does this count as meditation? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 12:11 AM PDT Anybody else experience extreme lucid dreams after significantly increasing meditation in a short period of time? I woke up with a raw mouth and my body felt charged with an electrical current. The level of lucidity was almost nauseating upon waking up. I ate a piece of bread & it helped ground me a bit. However, these dreams were so bizarre yet hopeful and enlivening? Weird. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this. [link] [comments]
Trying to be aware of my breath all day. Posted: 23 Sep 2020 11:34 PM PDT Hey guys, I have been meditating thrice. 30 minutes in the morning,30 minutes in the evening and 30 minutes before bed. But what I am doing these couple of days is, I try to be aware of my breath. While watching movies, while walking, while having a conversation with someone, etc. Thus, I try to have my attention as much as possible on my breath all day. I just want to ask you guys, Am I doing this right? And has anyone tried observing the breath all day? And did it make a difference in your life? [link] [comments]
How do I know what meditation is right for me? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:32 AM PDT Title says it all really. I'm an anxiety sufferer, I think about the past and future quite a bit as I struggle to maintain a sense of presence. Over the year I have tried Headspace, Fabulous, Samuel Sagan, Sadhguru, and now I'm onto Wim Hof. My issue is, I don't know which is right for me because the long term effects are so distant and I ideally need immediate effects to curve my anxious mind. But what about you guys, what meditation practices do you like? [link] [comments]
Best position to sit in for lower back pain? Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:41 PM PDT I've had lower back pain for a few months now and I prefer sitting to meditate instead of lying down because I tend to fall asleep. I usually sit with my legs crossed on my bed and can rarely go past 10 minutes without the pain being too much. Are there any alternatives I could try to relive lower back pain? [link] [comments]
| To pay or not to pay attention, that is the question! Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:09 AM PDT "A person standing at an open window hears the sounds from outside; it is impossible not to do so. But he can give the voices his attention or not, as he himself wishes. The praying person is continually beset by a stream of inappropriate thoughts, feelings and mental impressions. To stop this tiresome stream is as impracticable as to stop the air from circulating in an open room. But one can notice them or not. This, say the saints, one learns only through practice." -- Way of the Ascetics, The Ancient Tradition of Discipline and Inner Growth by Tito Colliander Note - You can replace praying person with meditating person. | Can I meditate without my third eye opening? Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:14 PM PDT I am only really interested in mindfulness, Affrimation meditation (English Not sanskrit) and transedental meditation. I am not really interested in Chakras or Channeling spirits or manifesing stuff. I just wanna know if can do this without activating the third eye or any chakras. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:54 AM PDT in our life, we have had so many paranoids.. for example, being robbed, being hurt, being criticized, being bullied etc... these paranoids are come from our memories and minds, because we had experienced or seen same thing before, our brain brought up automatically same thoughts and feelings. we have to get rid of these fake mind to hurt our present. Let's do meditate together and blow away those fake! Jason- Meditação Lisboa [link] [comments]
Does anybody use a specific Lamp/Light for Meditation? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:52 AM PDT I came across a lamp that would increase and decrease in brightness to help with breathing technique. Is there any other sort of lamp or lighting fixture that would help with mediation? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Sep 2020 04:02 PM PDT I defeated the lust demon that plagued me for almost seven years for the first time while meditating. I saw myself from the future, present, and the long past. I could see me from the distant past during the moment the demonic spirit entered me. We had a conversation about who I was and then we came to the conclusion that the only way to move forward towards the light is when we stop moving back into the dark. We approached the corrupted version of me with the demon inside and removed it with prayer and accepted the old me back into the balance. It was a powerful moment for me it's hard to explain. Kinda feels like I unlocked a new ability. Like I'm more aware now. I'm grateful for pushing myself to meditate more. Hope you have a blessed day or night whoever is reading this! [link] [comments]

I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced what I call Tornado Syndrome. Posted: 23 Sep 2020 07:30 PM PDT I've been noticing something kind of weird when meditating/relaxing lately. I was hoping to get some insight on the matter. It mostly happens when I'm in a seated, cross-legged position, letting my mind wander, that my upper body starts swaying in a circular motion. It's not an involuntary thing, but the spinning just kind of feels like...what I'm supposed to be doing...I guess? It could be just a natural grounding thing my body does, or maybe its an old coping mechanism from childhood that I forgot. But I thought I'd put this out there and see if any of you can relate. I'm 90% sure it's not vertigo, had it a couple of times before and it definitely didn't feel like this. [link] [comments]

Question on observing thought while meditating Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:07 AM PDT Hey folks! I'm following Sam Harris' Waking Up course and have a question. During the guided meditations Sam says to observe thoughts as they appear and realise that they simply emerge without any conscious control. What I don't quite understand is that if I am to observe the thought is that not another thought in itself? For example say I have the thought that I would like to hang out with my friends, am I then supposed to think something like 'the thought that I would like to hang out with my friends has emerged'. I feel like I'm missing something and I would really appreciate some input! Thanks!! [link] [comments]
