3 Weeks Progress from touching my shins. I felt so acomplished, 4 weeks in, couldn't reach palms to floor again. Was it a lucky day?

A few days ago I decided I wanted to get more flexible. This is where I'm at today! I've never been this far in the middle splits before!!

    Ankle mobility

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 08:19 PM PDT

Hi, I've been struggling for ankle mobility and specifically dorsiflexion on a foot that has been repeatedly injured over the course of ~ 10 years. The last 2 years or so I've been focusing on it nearly every day to no avail. I've done banded mobilizations, every variation of calf stretch, and used different weights on my flexed knee to try and push my knee over my toe. I've been to PT as well. A lot of those things help acutely, but nothing has helped long term. Any suggestions?

Why is my hip flexibility not improving?

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:19 AM PDT

I am the least athletic person you've ever met. I've never taken dance lessons, gymnastics, figure skating, or anything that requires coordination or flexibility. Then, at 25, during the pandemic, I discovered aerial silks and thought that would be really fun to learn. Main problem: you need to be flexible to do any fun tricks.

So I started following stretching routines on youtube (could barely touch my toes at the beginning) and now I'm like 10 cm away from getting front splits. So my leg flexibility has improved a lot. My hips, however...

I've been doing butterfly stretches the entire month and my knees aren't even a single inch closer to the floor. My inner hips hurt just as much today as they did the first day. And yes, I've warmed up before doing any stretches.

What am I doing wrong? Is there better flexibility stretches for hips?

    Middle splits frustration

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:53 AM PDT

Im 30 degrees away. Have been training in contortion for a few years now, and im falling behind the rest of my group. Theres a tightness on my inner quad on my left leg. Its a stretchy kind of "pain". My right leg feels nothing(yes its also engaged but i have over splits on that side. My left leg splits are down just not quite as fluent yet. After some active flexibility drills the stretchy ness becomes more tolerable. How do i get rid of the stretchy pain on my left quad? What does my right leg have that my left doesn't?
