Its day 9 and I finally had a victory! Posted: 26 Sep 2020 12:24 PM PDT I've been really trying to stick to it with the Dedicate series by Yoga with Adriene. Today was day 9, and its the first practice where I managed to do downward dog each and every time with absolutely no pain in my wrists! I've been working particularly hard on this. I used to have to go to puppy because the weight would be unbearable, and I honestly blamed my weight for a lot of it, but I've finally come to a place where I am consistently lining myself up right without even having to think about it! Its so nice to finally feel good while doing a pose I've been struggling with, even if its the simplest one, lol. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:16 PM PDT I am reading about Breathwork and I am watching videos on how to go about. I have mild anxiety, should I do it? I don't want to trigger [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:39 AM PDT I just got a book about yoga by theos bernard. its an scholarly work with many references to ancient texts, and has good photos showing the asanas and mudras. I want to ask if the asanas should be held or arrived-to, in a soft, relaxed muscle tone, or if one has to use isometric tension(like in sanchin from karate,or iron wire hung-far),doing contract-relax movement along the way. Posted: 26 Sep 2020 01:14 PM PDT COMP Hi, I am a yoga teacher based in London and most of my classes have been cancelled (or moved to zoom). I am looking to start teaching more online so have recorded a 1-hr class onto YouTube. It's my first time teaching to a camera (and not a class!) so it's definitely a little rough around the edges (apologies!). Any feedback I could have on my teaching/general flow would be very much appreciated. I would like to post more content online for my students (especially those who can't afford to keep the studio subscription). Thanks! Em [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Sep 2020 11:18 AM PDT Hi r/yoga community! I have practiced yoga daily for about four months now using the YWA videos. Recently, I am having heel pain in my right heel when doing poses such as downward dog, forward fold and balancing postures if I stretch out my leg too far or put too much weight on it. I have been extra careful not to over stretch this leg while practicing to avoid causing more pain for a couple of weeks now. Is this something that I should see a doctor about or do I just need to let my heel rest in order for it to heal properly? [link] [comments] |
Yoga mat bag for mat that is 6mm and 180.34 x 66.04 x 0.6 cm; 2.27 Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:02 PM PDT Dear fellow yogis, I am hoping to do more yoga at home given the Covid situation. The only problem is that my kitten wants to get into everything and thinks that sneaking that scratching the rolled up mat is a good idea. Solution: bag. Except that my new yoga mat is thicker and larger than one's that I have had in the past and I am worried about buying a bag online that won't fit. My mat = Bmat 6mm 180.34 x 66.04 x 0.6 cm; 2.27. [I did look on the FAQ, but the yoga bag question was some six years ago and the links are no longer valid] Any recomendations? [link] [comments] |

besides Ashtanga yoga what other exercises should i do and how often to help with weight loss? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:02 AM PDT The title kinda of says it all. I recently got back into working out and now I'm ready to add more. I don't want to over do it though. I need/want to keep yoga as my main form of training. It helps me tremendously mentally. I'm already calorie deficient maintaining about 1500 cal a day give or take. 5'3 female 135 lbs. goal weight 115ish. I'm currently doing 4 days a week of ashtanga. Let me know if you need any more information to help with suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Sep 2020 11:51 AM PDT I keep gaining flexibility. Im scared of it bc idk how to gain muscle to make things easier so I can hold poses for longer. [link] [comments] |
Yoga mats that are also good for interval / weight training? Posted: 26 Sep 2020 04:52 AM PDT I'd like to be able to use my yoga mat for interval / weight training (to include things like jump squats). I have heard some mats intended for yoga alone will wear down quickly. Any recommendations? [link] [comments] |

Stretch to compensate for non-ergonomic work setup Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:36 PM PDT I've been feeling some mild pain on my arm, close to my elbow. I think I'm starting to feel it on my wrist too and I'm pretty sure it's because of my non-ergo work setup. My arms are higher than they're supposed to be when I'm typing/using the mouse. What stretches/poses can I do to compensate for this? I know I need to change my setup but for now I'm hoping to alleviate it by stretching [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:02 PM PDT I have been doing yoga on and off for the past 5-6 years of my life. The mental and physical peace it brings me most of time has been gradually nudging me to try to encourage and show others what it might can do in their lives as well. We definitely need it now more than ever. I am feeling really self concious about it. Most of it is probably irrational. "I don't feel like I'm a pro enough at it yet" "I'll never have the money for it" "I'm terrible at publix speaking." And the doubtful thoughts continue. Even more of a reason to do it. Yeah? But idk. Really just reaching out to see if anyone relates or just has thoughts. Namaste 🕉 The light in me honors the light in you. [link] [comments] |
