Revisiting what to wear - yoga pants. Posted: 12 Sep 2020 08:26 AM PDT The FAQ/Wiki suggestions are threads from 8 years ago and I'd like to know what holds up for you. I purchased Victoria's Secret pants maybe 7 years ago and they are needing to be replaced. They are opaque, thicker, and soft to the touch. When on sale they were around $30. For whatever reason, Old Navy pants create an odor no other pants do, and Champions are see through/have worn down quickly. I'm willing to invest if pieces will last me a decade or so. Anyone had any luck? I know this is superficial but I'm just not a shopper and it's been years since I've found durable, opaque pants. Thank you <3 [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Sep 2020 11:34 AM PDT I am practicing crow pose and I am happy say that I'm at the point where I can hold the position without immediately falling out of it. However, the back/inside of my arms are bruised where I've placed my knees. I know this probably means my form isn't entirely correct, but I'm not sure where to tune it up? Are my arms not strong enough to hold me up yet? Do I need to strengthen my core and lift from my center more? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Covid-recoverers: how has your practice changed? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 02:04 PM PDT I am about 2 weeks out of my covid experience, which was thankfully very mild. Right now my only lingering symptoms are some light fatigue and loss of taste and smell. I have done 2 or 3 at-home practices during this time and felt great. However I hate not being able to work out harder. It's draining my mental health to just sit all day, every day. I'm gaining weight and I feel my strength dwindling. Before I tested positive I was considering re-joining the hot studio in my area. I haven't stepped foot inside a studio since March and I miss it so much. I'm just wondering if there are any other covid recoverers who have tried hot yoga again? Or a return to power yoga at all? How was the experience? I find it much easier to practice yoga than to do cardio. My long walks leave me pretty tired but the yoga I have done makes me feel amazing. I'm just nervous that hot power yoga might be too much for me. [link] [comments]
Question for yogis that film themselves during practice Posted: 12 Sep 2020 01:34 PM PDT Why do you do it ? Do you find it helpful to review the practice? Do you normally keep the set up (camara, tripod, light, etc.) at the same place throughtout the day ? Sometimes i feel like recording myself to see where i am now; to track my progress and the different ways that my body aligns to see which areasi should focus more on, but the idea of adding an extra layer of commitement or task to my practice always puts me off and i defer. Any comments? Points of view? Experiences to share? I'd like very much to read everyone's point of view on the matter if possible :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Sep 2020 07:08 PM PDT I've been doing yoga about 3-4 times a week since the spring. Nothing too advanced yet but I do notice a 20-45 minute flow helps me feel better overall. I just do an online yoga program from home. I try to never push myself too far, listen to my body, and ease into doing things (ie- still doing chaturanga on my knees because I know I can have better form that way.) I also did yoga more frequently at a studio years ago. This week I noticed that I was getting a quick pinch in my right shoulder blade a few times in the course of 15 minutes, so I stopped immediately and took a few days off. I tried again today and I felt the same quick pinch within the first couple minutes, so same thing, I stopped immediately. Today I noticed it primarily in my down dog- transitioning from 3 legged dog to runners lunge, and back. I've never had any pain like this while doing yoga before, and I don't want to push myself into an injury. Any one experience this before? Or any suggestions for what I can do or could potentially be causing it (I know it can be hard to know without seeing form? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Sep 2020 06:06 PM PDT I primarily always go to hot yoga classes at my local studio. I notice some people spraying their mats down with water before class. I have heard this helps with keeping the towel from sliding on the mat, but I had initially thought it was to keep the towel/mat cooler during class. Is that typically more for anti-slip or for cooling? [link] [comments]
Really want to get back into the studio. When will you be ready? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 02:21 PM PDT I am based in the north east USA in a larger city. Compared to a lot of US cities, we have done a great job mitigating the spread of COVID and have relatively low numbers. Very proud of us! Studios are starting to open back up. I am personally not comfortable/ready yet, but I can feel the urge starting to creep in. Everywhere is being very safe (masks at all times, distanced, more cleaning practices). My studio even installed legit air filtration systems in every room, which makes the biggest difference for me so far compared to other businesses. I know everyone is different, and this post is not meant to be political. What if a vaccine never comes out? At what point are you comfortable going back to in studio classes? [link] [comments]
I need advise on standing cow face face Posted: 12 Sep 2020 04:47 AM PDT It seems I have tight shoulders, and I am unable to grab my hands behind my back as a result. I have just been using towels and sticks to help me complete the stretch. Can anyone recommend any routines or drills to help with it. I know it is not a difficult pose. But my current goal is be able to grab my hands. I would really like to be able to do it before the years end. Thanks in advance for all the help. [link] [comments]
How can I get back into Yoga after stopping for 7 months? Posted: 11 Sep 2020 08:39 PM PDT Before the pandemic I had been practicing Yoga for 14-15 months. After COVID though, that stopped completely. I barely did any exercise at all and now that I want to get back into it I have no idea where to start. Is there a good, simple routine you guys recommend??? Nothing that requires more than 1 hour please [link] [comments]
How to avoid tight muscles for a morning practice? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 12:37 AM PDT I've been doing yoga for a couple months now and I notice that doing yoga in the morning is impossible because everything is so tight. With school starting, mornings are the best time for me to practice and I was wondering if anyone knew any way I could make this better? [link] [comments]
Children’s Yoga (RYCT) and 300 hour online? Posted: 12 Sep 2020 02:05 AM PDT Does anyone know of anywhere that teaches (and can provide certification) for the yoga alliance RYCT course or the 300 hours (to become a RYT 500) online? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Sep 2020 02:04 AM PDT I've been practicing yoga with various videos home and never paid much attention to feet. Then just now I hear that I'm supposed to spread toes when standing. What does it exactly mean? Some say I should spread them as much as I can, but if I search images of spread toes they are not that much spread. I naturally have spread toes and if I spread them as much as possible it looks too much. [link] [comments]
