    Backbends

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 11:05 AM PDT

When I started practicing dropbacks consistently, I've had soreness in my back. I used to feel compression in my low back but I've learned to lift my chest more so thankfully, I don't feel any pain or compression there anymore. But now I do feel soreness in my mid back and a bit of stiffness in my spine (not during practice though since my body is warm). It's hard to explain but the soreness feels more like a bruise rather than muscle pain. Like if I'm laying on my back hugging knees to chest, it feels like the floor is pressing on a bruise in my mid back.

I'm in the middle of intermediate series (kapotasana) and my teacher says that the pain/soreness is normal because there is an adjustment period in transitioning to intermediate series and the body really changes with all of the backbends? I wanted to ask if others have experienced this and if you have any advice for the adjustment period to avoid injuries.

    Online Yoga Teacher Training Thoughts

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 02:47 AM PDT

I've been doing Ashtanga yoga for a while now and have already completed two Ashtanga Teacher Training Certificates. With the ongoing COVID situation around the world, many schools are closed or have moved TTCs online. What are your thoughts on them? Could any of you recommend any schools or places that are doing online TTCs that are good and for a reasonable price? I am well aware of the TTC being a money-making scheme for most, but it can be a great way to brush up on your skills and deepen your practice, provided you have the right teacher and school.

Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks!
