Ashtanga yoga: Looking for a little advice. |
| Posted: 24 Oct 2020 04:34 PM PDT I was recently pointed to Ashtanga from someone on r/yoga as something that would be a good workout physically, that should hit all the key areas, help.me with my back and joint pain; and that I can learn by memory and not have to listen to some terribly cringey soft voice video while trying to do some yoga. I've done bits of yoga before. Mostly following YouTube videos. I'm currently doing surya namaskara a and b, and trying to build myself up. Right now I can manage: All five of A Then only one or two of B. I find the chaturunga just so hard! I struggle but manage it for all of A, but for B its 3 a piece! So I tend to do as much of B until I'm falling flat one breath into chaturunga. Is this a good method of building my way up through the primary series? Just going til I struggle? The only other position I get twitchy/difficult with is the lunges but nowhere near as bad! In related news, I did a practice out in the rain today and it definitely helped my temperature!
