Meditation: Learn to be gentle and kind with yourself. For the world likely will not be.

Learn to be gentle and kind with yourself. For the world likely will not be.

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 07:12 PM PDT

The harsh truth of the world is that we are alone even when we are not. Others may join us on our journey and we may even require the company, the fact that we are a social species is wired into our genetic structure. But at an existential level, there is a loneliness that no other can alleviate. There are pits of despair no others can fill.

This is a difficult truth many do not like to hear. After all we did not ask to be born into this terrifying storm. All alone on that little row boat in 100 foot swells ready to capsize at any moment. We didn't ask for to be not enough in this world that is all too much. How is it fair then that we have to shoulder the weight of it all?

Enter kindness. Gentleness. For it is NOT fair. It never was supposed to be. It never will be. And the disappointing truth of it all is that no one is coming to save you.

So why are you beating the poor thing when they are down? Why are you "not enoughing" yourself when you are already close to tears? Why are you your own judge, jurry and executioner, guilty until found innocent? Why do you hold onto the hot coal even as it sears your flesh? Why, for yourself most of all, do you never forgive and never forget? Why do you ridicule and kick the crying child when it asks to be held? Why do you hate nothing at all in this world except yourself?

Be gentle with yourself. Be kind. Hold the crying child and forgive them all they have ever done.

Meditation can reintroduce you to the part that's been missing.

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 08:19 AM PDT

Good vibes: If something is meant for you, it will come to you. As long as you feed it positive energy, nothing and no one can prevent it from finding you, but you. Hang tight and avoid fueling feelings of doubt otherwise, they will create resistance.

    Smiling is so powerful!

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 05:11 PM PDT

It's wild what a smile can do, even if it's a fake one. Today I tried to notice the exact moments when I quit smiling. I found it improved it's longevity by a ton and my happiness even more so :D

I started to think before speaking.

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 08:48 PM PDT

Before meditation, I used yo blabber all the time. Unconsciously, talk without thinking. But After meditating, I've realized, I think before I speak something and don't really talk most of the time. I guess, it can be said as a benefit of it.

Meditation is almost never a peaceful or enjoyable experience

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:01 PM PDT

So Ive been meditating since I was in high school. I'm 23 now just to give you a frame of reference. I've been at this a while. And yet I still feel like I'm a complete beginner.

I can't shake the feeling that I'm doing something wrong. People describe tranquility in their sessions but mine are almost always a state of tension.

The pull of my mind is just so damn strong that it feels like the pull in the opposite direction (the breath) will absolutely never overcome the intense gravity of my thought patterns.

I say it's a state of tension because it feels like my mind is absolutely determined to not sit still. Not only that, it gets downright nasty. Tells me I'm fucking stupid and I'm doing it wrong and why the hell are we even doing this in the first place.

I guess it just seems like an unwinnable battle to me. And I've have doubts if I'm even making a dent in any of this stuff.

Maybe I need a new method. But I've been doing the coming back to the breath thing ( I don't know all the fancy names) for so long it seems insane to switch now.

Thanks for reading and any guidance

    Meditation after affects

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:29 PM PDT

During and after I meditate I feel really good for a while and then all of a sudden a bunch of negative thoughts come in my head and I feel down more than ever. Does this mean I'm making progress but my brain doesn't want me to solve what's going on? Does anyone know what this means or does anyone have the same issue?

    Could somebody provide some insight?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 11:56 PM PDT

Hi, I have been meditating consistently for over a year now. It has changed my life in ways I did not even think possible when starting this practice, positive of course.

But lately I have been dealing with something that leaves me feeling a bit odd. I will try to explain the
phenomena to the best of my ability. It started about 5 months ago but at the time it was more mellow than now, it also stopped after a few days so I did not think much of it, side effects of meditation I thought.

Here's how it went back then:

A strong and gradual ringing sound started in my ears usually when laying down, it increased in intensity until reaching it's peak after which I felt a deep sense of calm and relaxation as it subdued.

    And how it is now:

For the last two days the same ringing sound has returned only more powerful. This time it appears during my dreams. For example, the dream runs it's course and somewhere during it I can feel the same ringing sound starting abruptly and this time it's accompanied by a very strange sensation, the whole boundary of reality disappears and I can only feel my being vibrating extremely fast in a void. I mostly wake up by this stage and if I try to lay my head back on the pillow and go to sleep there's the ringing again starting gradually. I mostly just stay awake for about 15 minutes waiting for it to pass, time in which I can still feel the ringing trying to grasp me but since I do not offer my concentration it does not have nearly the same intensity.

Thanks for reading, I hope somebody could provide some insight as to why this happens or what it is.

You are the Awareness that is completely open and says Yes to all experience.

Just rest in your effortless natural bliss of your own being- pure awareness. Stay relaxed at ease and allow your expression of body/mind to unfold by itself. You are not a "doer". Just relax and enjoy the "movie".

"What about the mind? It's hitting me hard theese days :( " No, the mind can never hit YOU. It may appear to hit you and you may appear to suffer only if you believe and identify with it. Free Guided Meditation app for one year -

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 04:14 AM PDT

    Hey all,

There's an app called Balance which provides guided meditation - they normally charge £68 for the year or £12 p/m. However in honour of World Mental Health Day, they are giving a years subscription for free!

Note that it works for iOS but not sure if applicable to Android. To unlock your free year, go to the payment page in the app or tap the button below on your iPhone or iPad.

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/balance-meditation-sleep/id1361356590

Also note that I'm from the UK, and whilst it has worked for me, I can't comment on whether it applies to the rest of the world.

FYI I signed up and then got the free annual membership; then went into App Store > Subscriptions> Cancel - Once cancelled, the membership will continue until 2021.

It's quite a good option for people new to meditation or even veterans. I have no affiliation to this app but I thought it might be something you guys would enjoy 😊. Worth a shout for those who are hesitant to pay money on apps such as Headspace etc.

    New to Meditation

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 01:48 AM PDT

Hi! I really want to start meditating because it will really help me with my mental health, or so I think. I've never done it before so is there a process or something I start off with? Basically how do I do this and immerse myself in it?

My mind is never quiet and I always am talking in my head, or having multiple thoughts that I've never been able to quiet down.

YOU are what You are looking for.

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 01:28 AM PDT

You are the effortless witnessing of everything, otherwise you wouldn't be able to report your experience - please understand this clearly.

There is no effort in being what you truly are, no goal and no "spiritual" journey. You are already here, aren't you? The only problem comes when you identify yourself with something you are not- thoughts, feelings, sensations, body. That's the only cause of trouble in human kingdom.

We often say "I think this/I am feeling this/I am hungry/I want this and that (even enlightenment)... Notice how often we use to combine ourselves with something we are not. All the time actualy. And that's why we suffer. We suffer because we limit ourselves. What we truly are is limitless Infinity. It's as if an elephant was trying to fit in a small box- it's totaly unnatural and that's why he has to suffer to realise that he can be free if he stops trying to get into the box. Our box, is simply the identification with anything. Just observe your experience and see how often you come to identify as something you are not- quite a lot isn't it? 😂 It's okay, the firsth is to just realise this. The rest will be very easy.

You just stop believing in this identity. Don't hold unto any idea you have of yourself. It's all just past. Past doesn't exists. You are here right now. Actualy, you are the timeless Now itself. Now is Consciousness. Consciousness is Eternity. You are Consciousness in which the whole Universe dwells.

Your mind wants you to be small, but you can expand beyond all limits and concepts of even expansion. Trust yourself, don't identify with anything and see what remains. What remains and what cannot be taken away. It cannot be taken away because it is not different from you. You cannot be taken away.

    Thank you. <3

    Bored and distracted

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 01:25 AM PDT

When I listen to a guided meditation and the speaker says something like "feel your energy flow throughout your body" or "feel gratitude within your heart" etc I don't feel these emotions at all. I just feel distracted and frustrated and like I'm not getting enough out of the practice.

    Any tips?

Podcasts that motivate you to live more mindfully?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:50 AM PDT

Anyone know of any good podcasts where mindful living is discussed? Not talking actual guided meditations. It has to be accessible to someone who is not a Buddhist.

I used to listen to this Swedish podcast where they talked openly about different aspects of life (like jealousy, anger, happiness, passion, meaning, etc) from a mindful viewpoint. One of the hosts was a Buddhist monk and the other was just a regular guy. The podcast ended though.

Do you guys know of any good podcasts that motivate you to meditate and live a more mindful life?

Breath and thoughts focused guided Meditation link suggestions on youtube

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:43 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I have an hyperactive mind and recorded guided meditations helps me a lot keep focus during my meditation sessions however the more I listen to a specific track the more I become distracted while listening to it like if my brain becomes used to it to the point that it becomes hard to keep my attention focused on the guidances that's why I am always looking for new guided meditations, if I put it in a one phrase: I lose focus when it starts to get familiar.
I am always looking for new guided meditations that focuses on "thoughts" , "breath" & "body scan" as it's the type that helps me the most but I can't seem to find any new interesting ones on Youtube that's why I need some suggestions from you !
I like Michael Sealey, Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, Joe Dispenza, jon kabat zinn & Sam Harris and I probably listened to all their guided meditations on youtube
if you know of any similar style guided meditation then please don't hesitate to share the link with me, youtube is not a condition ! thank you :)

I just need a break. Will meditation give me that?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:06 AM PDT

So basically I just need a break from everything. Which sounds weird because I haven't had a job or studied (recently started a course though) in years (please don't judge).

But those years had just been like one hell of a ton of increasing pressure and stress on my back, added to the stress that was already there in the first place. I turned to internet and video games to try to escape but obviously that doesn't work.

Currently I need to get a routine back, wake up early, exercise daily, eat healthy and do some of my course every weekday. But I just can't start because I am still exhausted and need that break. A true one.

Will meditation give me the break I need?

I can't just exit my life for two weeks and do nothing. But I'm thinking I can at least meditate for an hour or so every day.

Is 15 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night enough? Will doing this daily be that type of "break" that I need?

And paired with my new routine, will it be a sort of "daily clean out" of my mind?

I hope all of this made sense lol

I felt like I was spinning

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 04:27 PM PDT

I just meditated properly for the first time and it felt like my body was spinning in circles and also like my head was spinning in circles. It was an incredible sensation that lasted around 5 minutes. Has anyone else felt this?

Everytime i get back into meditation i feel way more anger and irritated. Any advice how i can change that ?

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 07:59 PM PDT

I often read that we just start to notice it more often since our awareness is raised.

But i really think i have way more irritation after i start meditating for a longer time in a row.

Is this common? And how could i overcome it? In the past i stopped meditating for a while to feel like before but i dont think thats the right way.

Meditation should be a cure and a way to better myself.
