RIP Lesley Fightmaster - And Thank You Posted: 22 Nov 2020 10:25 AM PST According to her husband, Lesley Fightmaster passed away suddenly this weekend. She has been an incredible yogi in the YouTube community - offering free yoga and her incredible gift. I'm so sad. [link] [comments]
Lesley Fightmaster passed away yesterday Posted: 22 Nov 2020 04:50 AM PST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3HMFpdDxjI according to her youtube channel's latest upload, within the video description is a message from her husband saying she passed away. Im shocked and in denial about this. I was becoming unhealthy and bored from inactivity when i found her youtube chanel and she introduced me to the world of yoga. Im very sad if this news is true and obviously have no reason to doubt it. Did anyone else practice with her? [link] [comments]
For those of you who practice daily, what does your day look like? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 07:33 PM PST Just curious. I am sure that I could carve out the time for a daily practice but it hasn't happened yet. These days, 4-5 times per week seems to work out well. I'd love to hear where you fit yoga in — or where you fit other things in around your practice. :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Nov 2020 03:49 PM PST Hi there! Brand new to reddit so I hope I'm doing this right haha So I'm a yoga teacher but Covid has had me out of work since March. So that being the case, I have been trying to move to an online platform on YouTube. If anyone here has experience teaching yoga on YouTube, I was hoping I could pick up some tips to help me get some momentum. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments]

| Recommendations for strength/stability yoga training plan? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 06:04 PM PST First time poster, long time lurker- thanks to everyone on this sub for awesome content! In my yoga journey, I've mainly focused on flexibility and mindfulness. I'd like to shift gears a little into things like crane pose, pigeon, etc. Could anyone recommend a YouTube playlist, course, etc on developing strength and stability for these poses? | Safe Travels Mantra/Prayer Question Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:07 PM PST Years ago I had a dear friend/yoga teacher (whom I've mostly lost touch with) recite to me a mantra of some sort prior to leaving her house. She explained it would bring me safety and protection while driving home. I can't remember it for the life of me. And I can't even remember if she sang it to me or if it was more of a spoken blessing, but I remember being incredibly moved by it and thinking how beautiful it was. I can't remember if it was Buddhist, Sanskrit, Hindu, etc. I've been googling for hours with no helpful results. Could anyone help me with what it may have been? Many people thanks! | Alo Moves Flow Recommendations? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 01:18 PM PST Hi! I've had Alo Moves for a few months and love the videos! I never had a specific goal when I started so I just did random stretching videos because my body would be very sore and stiff all the time from sitting all day. I definitely have improved my flexibility since I've started doing the videos. For example, without even consciously working on it, I can sit a LOT deeper into a malasana and my wrists have gotten stronger and don't hurt when I do flows anymore. However, now I'm at the point where I want to improve my flexibility even more. I'm overall still very inflexible, especially when it comes to forward folds, reaching forward for the toes, and hips/hamstrings. Does anyone have any specific videos they recommend to improve my flexibility? Thank you!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:11 PM PST I'm nearly at the 1/2 century mark, practicing yoga to the best of my abilities. One of my fond memories of my grandma was when she told me when she started doing yoga, her mum told her she was dabbling in the occult. 😂😂😂 [link] [comments]
Since we had a lively ego topic should probably know the yoga definition of ego. Posted: 22 Nov 2020 05:20 AM PST Anything the mind creates is ego. That's it. (for some reason I feel like I have to write in here we're screwed) Thought and mind cannot discover the truth because they are born of ignorance. `I am trapped' means I am trapped in every way, without redemption, without the possibility of an escape. Swami Venkatesananda. Kill the Ego – by Swami Chinmayananda more Kill the Ego https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50gAN_dA7Yw Their words may be a little much but I don't know of anyone else that understands these concepts so well. Work with them, no good student will ever find a bad teacher. Maybe you know of someone that understands and explains well? [link] [comments]
| Do you think it's better to do headstand supported or unsupported? (sirsasana) Posted: 22 Nov 2020 09:10 AM PST i know for starting out they say supported headstand is better for obvious reasons, so after you get good at that do you guys recommend doing unsupported or do you just do supported headstand? | online yoga class suggestions? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 12:16 PM PST Are there any good online yoga classes that have live classes designed more as a workshop on how to do a certain pose? More focusing on building the strength needed and safe ways to get into the pose? When I would go to a studio, having an instructor's help was great. But now, just trying to guide myself. | Posted: 22 Nov 2020 10:25 AM PST Hi all! I took a look through the challenges listed in the sticky, but need some advice on which series may be best for me. I'm not new to yoga and am looking for a 21-30+ day series of longer videos (45-60 minutes would be great). I'm looking to make that transition into more intermediate and maybe advanced poses. I'm looking to get a little sweat on! I'm okay with pay-to-play or free videos. Thank you for any advice you may have! Have a great day :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Nov 2020 04:06 AM PST I'm just really curious how you guys (if you do) take yoga pictures? Do you do self-timer? Or take a video? I've tried taking some by filming myself but it didn't really turn out well [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:03 PM PST I've only been doing yoga for about a month and a half, but I can't imagine ever getting to a place where I can just go to my mat and come up with a whole practice right there. That kind of experience and mastery seems almost impossible for me! Not that there is anything wrong with videos. I love following along to the people I follow, especially getting some guidance and tips for them for body placement as a beginner. Just curious how many of you out there always, sometimes, or never follow a video. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Nov 2020 09:19 AM PST M24, Hello everyone, I recently started practicing Siddhasana to control my urges. I want to know what is the right position to do it, the benefits of doing Siddhasana regularly & if there are any effects on my sexual health in the long run. Thanks in advance. :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:56 AM PST Hi guys, so I have had back problems most of my life (scoliosis) when I was younger I noticed that yoga helped a lot. However, lately after having quite a long break from yoga, I'm trying to get into my practice again but whenever I feel like I am advancing in any way something happens to my back and I spasm and consequently I can't exercise for about a week because I can't barely move due to the pain. I've tried to figure out from what the spasm could come - the pain is located in my lower back and behind my pelvic bones, if that makes any sense? I am suspecting that a tight iliopsoas could be my problem, however I am really not sure. When I'm walking (after spasms) Inoticed that in order to avoid the pain my back goes into a lumbar curve and that in consequence tightens my lower back muscles and causes even more pain... Its somehow a vicious cycle. Bending down is almost impossible. I would be immensely grateful if someone could help! Maybe ways to release or make my iliopsoas more flexible?? Is that possible? Greetings my friends! [link] [comments]
Best seated position to practice while relaxing? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 01:00 AM PST I like doing the simple position while relaxing and some times try full lothus (I feel insecure about it because I practise on my own and I know it damages knees, tho I mainly feel ankle pain and not knee pain), so I was wondering if there were other seated positions I could practice while in front of my computer or generally relaxing [link] [comments]
