Are there any Yoga apps that allow you to search pose via the muscles they target?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 06:34 AM PST

I know there are plenty of great apps how there that provide yoga routine but I'd like to be able to use an app that allows me to search for poses based on the muscles I want to work?

Does anyone know a small business that sells quality yoga mats? I need a new one and I don't want to give it to Amazon. Thanks!

    Fostering the magic of yoga!

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:35 PM PST

I have been practicing yoga for about 5 years and recently became a registered Yoga teacher this past September. Yoga has brought such joy and transformative magic to my mind, body, and soul. Through my personal recovery from a TBI, I discovered how healing and nourishing yoga can be & my wish is to share this practice in hopes to bring that magic to you. If anyone is interested in joining one of my online donation-based classes, let me know! :)

I love how my body is sore after trying out basic yoga for the first time even though I workout actively

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:43 AM PST

As a rigid 24 year old man, I finally forced myself to try yoga after 8 months into quarantine. I am sure I made a lot of mistakes but I am willing to learn with time.

Would love to check out some beginner lessons on youtube if you guys have any recommendations!

    Help with vajrasana

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 04:42 PM PST

Hello all When I try to do vajrasana, my calves and thighs (right above the calves) pain. It feels like the blood stops flowing. Is it because my muscles are too tight or because of the overweight? (I am obese trying to lose weight). Can I please get some insights to figure out how I can improve my pose?

    Yoga got chest strength?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 06:01 AM PST

I'm relatively new to having a regular practice, and I'm loving it. Even though I pretty much suck at every pose, I'm getting better, and can feel myself definitely getting stronger and more flexible (I can touch my toes! My body doesn't shake anymore in boat pose!). I'm an (almost) middle-aged guy, and want to work on building pec strength, too. I did a google search and it pretty much yielded chest stretches. Will these also build strength? What kind of poses should I be working on for a bigger/stronger chest? Any thoughts or advice welcome!

    Finally back on the mat!

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 11:10 PM PST

Hi, everyone! This is my first post here. You all have been a huge inspiration to me and I wanna say thanks.

I have been off the mat for over half a year - in the spring I've ripped my achilles tendon, and been forbidden almost any exercise. While still recovering from that, I got pregnant with my and my husband's first baby. I am incredibly excited, but the first trimester had me sleeping whenever I had the chance and the morning sickness took over almost everything.

So I'm now well into the second trimester and I felt horribly stiff, tense, and heavy, but so scared to get on the mat with my pretty much new body (everything feels different, different centre of gravity etc.). Then I started lurking on this sub and you are all so inspiring! Today I finally got the courage to try a prenatal yoga and I feel like a new person! I think even the little one liked it, haha! Thank you all, feels so good to be back!

What is your favorite style of yoga?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 08:11 AM PST

I have pretty much only ever done vinyasa yoga as that was what the studio I belonged to offered and it's a great workout. Now I purchased a yoga app that offers essentially every kind and I was thinking about exploring the different types. I'm curious what are people's favorite style of yoga and why? What benefits do you see from each?

    Hot flash while doing yin?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:37 PM PST

I'm heading into menopause a bit younger than most.

I'm having hot flashes while doing yoga specifically yin.

Is it just a coincidence or is yoga triggering it? What to do?

Last night I just had to stop and lay with an ice pack

There’s blood in my panties after yoga

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 06:50 AM PST

For context, I've been doing yoga for 7 days straight (I'm doing my 200 hours ytt at the moment) and every night I noticed there's a little bit of blood in my panties. Is this normal? I've never bled outside of my period before.

    Starting yoga, finally lol

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 11:31 PM PST

hey guys. So idk if this is commonly asked, but I've been thinking of starting yoga, but it's a little intimidating stepping into it. There seems to be a bunch of things I need to get, like the right pants and mat and stuff, and idk if they're are necessary or which kind to get. I was planning on doing it by myself at home using online materials cause idw to go out (for obvious reasons lol). I've heard it helps mainly with mental health and can also contribute to weight loss, and I'll admit I do want to lose weight but that's not the main reason I'm starting yoga haha. I was wondering if I can do other exercises during my day, along with yoga in mornings? I've been doing some research, and felt that yoga with adriene on YouTube seems quite fit for me since she explains quite well and has a good enough pace to follow. However I would love to have your opinion on this too- it would be a massive help for a beginner like me! Sorry if my English sucks, and thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this or reply back!! :)
