Feet become numb doing easy pose

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 08:14 PM PST

Hey there! I have recently gotten into both meditation and yoga, and I have been having an issue. When sitting in easy pose for a more than a minute, my feet get numb. I have tired using pillows to sit on and to prop up my knees. Nothing works. If anything, it only delays the numbing but a minute or two. Does anyone have any advice to "stretch out" the numbing? Is there certain poses I can do to make my hips/legs more flexible so this doesn't happen?

It's not everyone's cup of tea - but I made a YWA playlist for anyone that wants an easy shake up to their routine. I used to struggle just deciding what kind of practice I want on any given day - hope this helps anyone in a similar position.

Has anyone experienced improved knee and hip mobility from yoga.

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 06:00 PM PST

Hello, I've only started doing yoga as well as regular exercising, which includes a lot of squats and lunges. I'm only 20 so I can imagine that my mobility will get worse from here, so I was wondering if anyone's knees and/or hips have improved from yoga. If so how long did it take to see a difference? What positions helped you the most? Thank you.

So how to get into leggings as a guy?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 03:59 PM PST

Title says it all. Basically I want to get into exercise and maybe some yoga too next year to finally get below 200 (I'm at 235) after being at 300 just over a year ago. My question is this; If I want to wear leggings how do I do it? I've worn compression based leggings for football in highschool but they weren't great.

I heard that compressed yoga pants are also good but here's my issue...I don't like the compressed leggings that they make for men because they aren't very...how do I say this... comfortable... I have however worn an ex's leggings before and they were awesome! But that was over 3 years now and I want to get a pair of "male" leggings or female leggings of a neutral color like black for example but I don't know where to start.

I would like to ask a group of people on reddit for help but to literally no one's surprise, not even God himself, the leggings subreddit is not so safe for work so here I am lol! But yeah how do I find woman's leggings that would fit or any other type of compression pants that might work as well?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm a Yoga Teacher and I Broke My Collarbone

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 07:09 AM PST

    Hey everyone,

My name's Oliver, I've been teaching yoga for the past 3 years, and practicing daily for the last 6. In July 2020 I broke my collarbone and some ribs after a bicycle accident. The very next morning I was on my mat, exploring the new state of my body and the injury. I developed a very simple and safe practice to aid my recovery, which I believed worked as ultimately I didn't need surgery despite having cracked the clavicle into 3 parts. On top of that, the Doctor said my range of motion after a month was amazing. I wanted to share my journey in case it could help anyone in a similar condition, so I made a short YouTube series describing how I used my asana to help my body heal. I've included a link to the first of five episodes.

Hopefully this series will be of use to anyone with similar injuries, or perhaps folk feeling a bit demoralised after a totally different kind of incident, or maybe teachers who are trying to help a student!

If there is one take-home message, don't completely stop moving if you are injured! I have had multiple students, friends and acquaintances take this path after an accident of some kind, and invariably it has lead to more problems further down the track!

    Thanks

    Laruga Yoga

I'm a fan of hers and I really like watching her flow and how she explains the poses. I don't see much of her from this subreddit so far so I was just wondering why and if there's anything I missed on about her

What positions can I do to help out with a sore pubis bone/area?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 03:04 PM PST

    Specifically the right side.

The reason why I get pains in that area is because I had surgery back in September 2019.

I know I have myself to blame because I haven't moved at all today. Day off, I didn't want to move lol. Plus, I haven't practiced any yoga in two or three days.

What are some moves that I can do in order to make that area feel better?

    Gravity Yoga

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 02:38 PM PST

Has anyone here heard of or tried Gravity Yoga? It's targeted mobility training that involves holding stretches for a longer period of time. Similar to yin but more aggressive as it really opens up the range of movement in the hips, hamstrings and back. It's great for people who struggle in regular yoga classes to get into certain poses.

Why do i always do cat cow wrong?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 02:25 PM PST

Every time I do cat cow pose, my body begins to do it the opposite way from what it's supposed to. It's supposed to inhale on cow and exhale on cat, but I keep doing it the other way around. Is this a sign of a specific health problem i need to work on?

Do you guys do the 3 warrior poses back to back?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 11:59 AM PST

I know normally it's best to go to a class and I plan to resume my classes after this covid stuff passes. In the interim I am working on poses myself online with the power of the internet.

So there are 3 warrior poses and they are similar in stance - so can you just do warrior 1, 2 and 3 in order or do you need to do preparatory poses in between?

    Obsessed with Yoga and meditation

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 06:56 AM PST

Lately, I have been really into yoga and meditation. Not just the poses but the spiritual experience that I have every time. The calm peace and almost like my energy is re-filled and this helps me stay grounded. These are only a few of the things that I get out of all of this.

I am curious about what others are doing to enhance their yoga experience. I just started journaling after but I am not sure if there is a good book on this to focus on or to just keep doing what I am doing.

All I want to do is this. Eat breathe and grow practice learn and enjoy.
