    [COMP] Todays Balance Flow

[COMP] My first ever successful crow pose! A long time practicing, but I've always been intimidated to try out the "hard poses" - meaning inversions of any kind. Recently I got Alomoves and it has inspired me to give a try.

Emergency alert: Yoga and stroke: please explain what's wrong with me

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:07 PM PST

So I just did half of an yin yoga, and felt a slight pain on my neck, and slightly dizzy while doing it. For a while, my consciousness felt declining...

So I stopped and googled and "yoga and stroke" (I don't know why I did it), and read that cartoid dissection can happen during yoga poses, and you can have stroke immediately afterwards.

Right after reading it my whole body started shaking... and I honestly feel still a bit less conscious and dizzy, my head feels funny and there's a mild discomfort in my neck.

I am terrified. Is something bad going to happen or is it just my imagination? I read cartoid dissection is extremely rare (and happens generally in accidents), and you feel an excruciating pain in neck and head ... in my case, it's a mild discomfort in my neck. Not a huge pain. Moreover it was a mild yoga, and I have done it 100 times in last year.

So should I be worried?? What should I do? But I swear my head feels weird.

Does this pose actually work to improve your posture? If it does, how long do I have to hold it for?

Best Poses For Better Cross Legged Sitting?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 02:16 PM PST

I have super tight hips and would like to be able to sit cross legged on the floor for more than a few minutes at a time. Are there any yoga poses/stretches someone more experienced could recommend to someone that's not flexible?

Who makes the best yoga videos out there for at home practice?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:51 PM PST

Trying to find a good yoga platform for practicing at home in the times of Covid. I do a lot of YouTube videos right now, Yoga w Andrienne, Sarah Beth Yoga, Aloyoga, etc. I want to take it to the next level and find who will really work on full body flexibility and some power yoga workout stuff as well. Would love your suggestions!

Muscle shaking in supported sacrum poses

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:50 PM PST

    Hey all!

I realized lately while delving into yin that often, in poses where my sacrum is supported with a block, such as supported bridge or waterfall, I feel an uncomfortable deep muscle shake even though I'm fully supported and not needing to hold myself up. I've never experienced this in my 15 years of practice! I'm familiar with fuzzy tingling with energy movement as well as shaking from exertion while holding a challenging standing pose.

I can't seem to tell what muscle this is originating from, as it's not one of the superficial ones I can see. Breathing deeply into it and focusing on relaxing more doesn't help. Lifting one leg does help. The sensation isn't pain so much as an odd vibration. Any ideas as to what may be happening? Thanks in advance!

    Cheap recording

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 01:20 PM PST

Im looking for recording ideas, just a dedicated phone or tablet with tripod just for recording yoga. Without being too spendy. What do you all use?

    Can I make this statement?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 02:09 PM PST

I'm not the most flexible. I love down dog, but even in beginners there are a few positions I can't do. Regarding correct posture after attempting having completed all the instructions, I want to make sure I'm not straining the wrong body parts to get to the next level.

Can I guarantee my stance is correct if I am: standing tall, attempting to engage as many muscles facing the floor to lift myself horizontally up, and keep my core engaged to the rhythm of my breathing?

Who Will Teach Yoga To Your Children?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 01:50 PM PST

Who has taught or intends to teach yoga to your children?

Should there be yoga programs for children? At school? After school? Private instruction?

Feet together modification for knock knees

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 10:37 AM PST

Hi! First post here. I tried searching for other posts about this but didn't find an answer to my question. Like a lot of people I got into Adriene's videos for free lessons at home but of course the catch is I can't ask her for feedback on form and function. When she says zip up your feet together for tadasana etc, this is doable for me even with knock knees but I really have to muscle them in together. Is the intent of feet together more about challenging balance than the actual physical act of bringing them together? Is it better to bring the knees together as much as possible without squeezing them together (unless prompted) and let the feet fall where they may? Thank you!

    Meaning on yoga

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 09:25 AM PST

Hi everyone! I'm new here, but I have been practicing on and off over the past couple of years. I have recently found a new studio I love and have really gotten back to practicing. At first, I viewed yoga as a good exercise but I am now interested in learning the deeper meaning behind the practice and I'm not sure where to start. So if anyone has any input to point me in the right direction or has any recommendations for any books or websites they have found useful I would appreciate it! 🙏

    Thank you in advance!

    Pre yoga prep advice, please?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:30 AM PST

    Hi all,

So I've been doing yoga on again off again for about 2 years or so.

This year I've decided to take it up seriously. But the problem is I have sinus and my head feels heavy and dizzy if I do any asanas which involve the head upside down. I've read about it and most of the blogs said I need to drink water and eat properly before I start my session, so I am currently drinking a whole glass of water and maybe an orange and wait for half an hour or so and start my yoga, and also I am being extremely careful while doing asanas which require head going down very fast like downward dog and such.

But sometimes my eyebrow section and my nose gets blocked, am I doing this pre-yoga prep wrong? Is it something else?

Also, do you think I will ever be able to do a headstand with the sinus situation?

Difficulty of doing the following asana (couldn't find the name for it, it's in the link).

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:06 AM PST

    Hello!

The asana I'm referring to is in the 17:10 time stamp where the guy raises his heads and lowers them behind his head: https://youtu.be/QjGF2MLdIz8.

I'm not able to maintain this squatted position like him, I think my butt rests even higher and when I try to lower the hands, it feels like I'll fall apart.

What should I work on in order to become fluent in this position?

    Question for height

Hi everyone I have heard that yoga helps you increase your height. Has anyone gotten taller from yoga? Thanks for your time
