Did you ever learn how to properly “fall” out of headstand/forearm stands?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 02:20 PM PST

Ive been practicing my inversions diligently for the past couple weeks and I've hit a wall :( I have a massive fear of falling backward or hurting my shoulders and that has kept me from fulling extending my legs.

Any tips on shaking this fear or on how you guys have learned to fall properly out of these stances?

Have you ever forward folded whilst walking up stairs?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 01:21 PM PST

Just did it without meaning to picking up some socks and other detritus and it felt really good so thought I'd share. I'd love to hear any other accidental infiltration of yoga poses to your everyday life? Or intentional for that matter.

My muscles are so tight! Advice on half-lotus needed

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 12:57 PM PST

    Hello all!

I'm a beginner to yoga, though a long time practitioner of meditation. In the past 3-4 years, I've lost my ability to sit in half-lotus and instead meditate in a kneeling position.

When I sit in half-lotus, it's like my lower/upper body is being pulled forward so I can't sit up straight. I can't get my knees to reach the floor anymore either. It's quite uncomfortable. While kneeling in meditation is just fine, I'd like to get back to half-lotus.

Can somebody break down what specific muscles are responsible for this? Any recommended exercises (or even videos) of how to fix this issue?

    Thank you in advanced!

One Legged Wheel Pose needs help

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 08:17 AM PST

I feel like I can get into Wheel Pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana) relatively easily, though my shoulders are not completely open, I can do it with straight legs, but when it comes to trying to lift one leg up, everything starts collapsing. I can't quite figure out where I'm weak (everywhere?) and what I need to work on nor can I find any videos on Youtube that address problems getting into one legged wheel. Anyone have any suggestions where I should start with?

Part-time yoga teachers - how do you do it?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 01:07 PM PST

I've been wanting to become a yoga teacher for years, but I'm in a pretty demanding career field (which I love) and worry that teaching on the side would be an extra burden.

But I still want to do it!

Does anyone here teach on the side while pursuing a full-time career in something else?

    All experiences welcome!

Sides (above the waist) hurts in triangle pose, and other poses that requires me to bend sideways?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:37 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I'm (30m) a beginner in yoga (started a few months ago), and I noticed that whenever I do poses that require me to bend to the side (e.g. triangle pose), my sides hurt and I no longer focus on the stretch. Does anyone else also face the same issue? I tried googling but nothing came up.

Yoga after hip replacements - any specialist teachers?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 03:42 AM PST

    Hi Everyone,

My mum has had her hip replaced and is now recovering. She is 70 and had been doing yoga for a while but expressed an interest in finding a yoga teacher who has specialised experience in doing yoga post hip operation? A lot of yoga teachers are very accomodating but ask her to make her own adjustments to exercises or sit out on certain positions, of course there is an individual balance but I am looking for a more tailored class.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations of teachers with this specialty? Thanks!
